WWE RAW Results (Jan 3) ? New Leader Of Nexus, Cage Match!

Prior to Raw, current FCW Champion Mason Ryan defeated Primo. The match was described as a squash, with Ryan getting the pin fall after hitting his version of the black hole slam. Should be any week now that Mason makes his much anticipated TV debut!

"Yes sir, we promised you a mediocre main event here tonight?"

Monday Night Raw opens with footage from Last Week and the Nexus attack on John Cena, CM Punk's final promo, and him aligning himself with The Nexus. Another fantastic video, one of WWE's strongest assets is their video team.

The video fades out and we move to Michael Cole explaining that John Cena isn't expected tonight after the attack from Nexus last week on Raw and the further issues from the house-show match against Wade Barret. Cole then explains that we will find out just who is the leader of The Nexus. He tops it all off by hyping what "rarely happens on Raw", the WWE Title on the line, The Miz vs. John Morrison.

The Raw Opening video plays. Maybe it's a new thing having the commentators preview the show? Perhaps it's just a special night with it being the first of 2011, either way I didn't like it. Use the video package to hype the upcoming show, not more of Michael Cole and that nasty, cheesy smile of his? yuck.

Match 1:
WWE Championship "Falls Count Anywhere" Match
The Miz w/Alex Riley vs. John Morrison

As Miz makes his way to the ring Cole explains that Jerry "The King" Lawler will also be missing this weeks Raw due to his injuries from the Miz attack last week. Cole will be joined by Josh Mathews.

Morrison makes his way down for the biggest match of his career, Miz and Alex meet him halfway and this one is underway! The two brawl back and fourth on the ramp way, Morrison trying for early pin. They battle to the stage, where Alex comes right back into the fight, only to be slammed into the giant WWE logo on stage. Morrison climbs the Giant W and hit's a splash off of it onto Miz & Alex. Morrison is on fire!

Morrison sends Miz back into the ring, leaving Riley out of the way at least momentarily. Miz counters Morrison, finally getting some offense and slowing down the pace. Miz and Morrison go up in the corner, Miz tries hard for a super-plex, but Morrison fights out of it. Morrison sends Miz back down to the mat, followed by a missile-dropkick and a 2-count. The two battle back-and-fourth before Morrison is able to hit the "Running Knee". He seemingly has this in the bag but Alex yanks Morrison out as the referee reaches the two.

John Morrison (in all his beauty) begins beating down Alex Riley on the outside, slamming him against the railing. He braces Alex against the barricade and hit's a "Running Knee" to knock him out. The Miz watches in fear as Morrison yells at a fallen Riley.

-Commercial Break as the medics tend to Alex Riley. Great match thus far! The crowd is really into it, hopefully Vince is taking note! These guys aren't the future, they are the present.

We are back and Miz is propping steel rails against the stage. Miz is trying for a suplex but Morrison reverses, tries for his own. Miz fights out of it, Morrison charges at Miz but gets back dropped onto the rail. 2 Count for Miz. Miz looks like he is about to cry. Miz regains his composure and begins beating Morrison down on the stage. Another 2 count. Miz is yelling and pulling at his hair. He flips Morrison down on the ramp, get's another 2 count. Miz does the yelling, hair pulling, huff-and-puff thing that he does so well. The two battle down the ramp, Miz goes for another pin and gets another two count. Then what? You guessed it, huff-puff, hair pull, yell.

Miz takes Morrison into the ring and begins stomping at him repeating, "You're not better than me! This all you got?" This leads to Morrison showing him that in fact this isn't "all he got" as he begins punching and kicking Miz around the ring. Morrison takes Miz down with a series of close lines and gets a 2 count of his own. Morrison lays out Miz and sets up for "Starship Pain." Miz moves but Morrison lands on his feet. The Miz hit's a surprise, neck-breaker on Morrison and gets another 2 count on Morrison! Miz begins moaning, "What do I gotta do?" He soon remember she has the "Skull-Crushing Finale." Miz tries for it, but Morrison fights out of it, setting up for "Starship Pain", this time connecting it. One, Two, Thre-. Kick out! Oh daddy, I thought Morrison had it there! I am glad he didn't, "Starship pain" is a stupid move and shouldn't be able to beat the WWE Champion.

Morrison goes for his "Running Knee", Miz sidesteps it and rolls up for another 2-count! Morrison kicks Miz out of the ring, the two go outside to where a table is set up (guess that happened during commercial break?) and Morrison lays Miz on it. Morrison climbs the corner post and tries for a "Starship Pain" but Miz moves, sending Morrison crashing through the table!

Miz quickly jumps on Morrison. One, Two, Thre- NO! Morrison kicks out! Unbelievable! One of Morrison's most impressive spots.

Morrison fights to his feet, but Miz is right there and hits "Skull-Crushing Finale" and finally gets the three-count to regain his WWE Championship.

Winner and still WWE Champion: The Miz!

We learn tonight there will be a "#1Contenders Steel Cage Match" to see who The Miz faces at "Royal Rumble." No idea who is going to be in it, but it's going to happen. Excited to see where they go with is, not many baby faces in WWE right now who deserve a shot. Not that "deserve" is a word WWE takes into consideration 90% of the time, but it still makes me wonder? hmm?

-Commercial Break. I can save $10 if I buy my Monster Truck tickets at "Advance Auto Parts!" Oh boy! I want to go see big trucks in the dirt! That's totally worth my money!

We're back and oh boy, the Phoenix Suns are in the house! Aw yeah! I am happier that I tuned in to Raw now that I know an NBA team is also there!

We go to WWE's new backstage guy Kevin? Teddy? or something like that, I have no idea. Either way, he's live with The Miz who is telling us that he is still the WWE Champion and he is Awesome.

We go to Michael Cole who says The Miz IS Awesome, but Josh disagrees, uh-oh! Michael Cole then shows us 2-weeks ago when Melina slapped Natalya after becoming #1 Contender. That odd electric guitar starts and here comes Melina!

Match 2:
Melina, Maryse, Alicia Fox vs. Natalya, Eve, Brie Bella

-Commercial Break. Melina with all heels shows us that Melina is apparently a heel now. Not sure why she decided to be friends with the bad guys (girls) but there ya have it, she's bad now. "The Green Hornet" preview plays? this movie looks terrible. I'd rather watch a short, fat guy get flogged by my brothers wife.

We're back! Brie and Maryse do that "roll around on the ground screaming" thing that every diva does. Maryse does some French trash-talking (which Cole thinks is sexy), she goes for cover but only gets a 1. Brie gets knocked to the outside, where Nikki does the little switch-a-roo from under the apron. Nikki acts fast and covers Maryse but Alicia Fox breaks up the count by lightly tapping Nikki's back. What the hell? I guess it irritated
Nikki into releasing the pin.

Tags are made. Natalya and Alicia Fox face off.

Natalya goes for a Sharpshooter but Melina comes in. Melina holds Natalya's foot while Alicia kicks her. Natalya comes back with a suplex. She gets into it with Melina on the apron. Melina drops Natalya on the rope as the ref isn't looking. Melina is tagged in now but Natalya lays her out and tags in Eve. Eve hits a neckbreaker for the pin and the win.

The baby faces win!

Awesome Kong comes out! Nah, just kidding? totally going to be awesome once it does happen!

-Commercial break. Royal Rumble preview, a lot like last years video. We get that commercial of John Cena destroying the bathroom so the business men will try out the "Gillette ProGlide." I don't think stalking grown men into the bathroom is very PG, Cena?

Match 3
Vladimir Kozlov & Santino Marella w/Tamina vs. The Uso's

We are back and the Uso's are in the ring and ready to go

Vladimir and Jimmy start it out, Santino chants start up! Josh Mathews informs us that the difference between Jimmy/Jey is that Jimmy has a tattoo on his chest. Good, good. Santino gets tagged in, Jimmy tags Jey. Jey has no trouble beating on Santino until Santino is able to tag in Vladimir. Vladimir begins head butting the chest of Jey. Jimmy causes the distraction giving Jey time to rake the eyes of Vladimir. Jimmy is back in, locking Vladimir in a headlock. Jimmy tries to keeps Vladimir from getting the tag, but Vladimir is able to get the hot tag! Santino runs in and takes out Jimmy, hitting his diving-salute-head butt. Santino prepares the cobra but Jimmy catches Santino, hitting the Samoan drop! Jimmy covers for 123.

Winners: The Usos!

Vladimir takes out Jey Uso. Santino & Tamina hit a double-cobra on Jimmy Uso. Tag Champions are standing tall as The Usos make their way of the ramp. Honestly, I have no clue if I am right on which Uso did what. The twin gimmick is terrible and I hate it. It worked for The Harris Brothers in wCw, but besides that It bores me to tears.

Backstage and CM Punk is on his way to the ring! Yipee!

-Commercial Break. We see a preview of tomorrow nights NXT Elimination show. Who's going home? Hopefully not Derrick Bateman. Anyone else think he looks like Andy Samberg?

We're back and Cole is hyping the "Magnificent 11 in 2011" on WWE.com. I haven't taken a look at the list yet. Hopefully Kaval made the list. He's still in WWE, right? R-Right guys? Please say yes L

CM Punk's music hits and here comes the Straight Edge Superstar! CM Punk tells us how much he loves being in Phoenix and how he's been looking for John Cena all day, "I've even looked in the parking lot. The funny thing is, I can't see John Cena!" Ha! Hilarious! Punk takes credit for John Cena not being here tonight. Punk says Nexus came to him and begged him to be their new leader.

We see a flashback from last week.

Punk is back talking about "Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect." The fans begin a Cena chant, which CM Punk joins in on. Punk explains that Cena just uses HLR as a catch-phrase but he and Nexus actually expect it from each other. CM Punk is going to take over Nexus and take over Monday Night Raw he says.

Nexus theme plays and here comes Wade Barrett!

Wade is going to correct Punk on two things! Wade takes credit for Cena not being here tonight and that Punk isn't the leader of Nexus, Wade is! Punk says Nexus needs new management, but Wade doesn't care. He calls Punk a "hypocritical, waste of skin," damn Wade! Wade calls Punk a liar, so Punk says they are going to settle it right now and ask the other members of Nexus who the real liar is.

Nexus theme plays and here come the other Nexus fellows.

Everyone loads in the ring, Punk on one side, Wade on the other. Otunga says they both make good points but before he can finish the lights flicker and we have our first e-mail from the General Manager!

And he quotes? "There will be three participants in the Steel Cage Match tonight. The three participants will either be CM Punk or Wade Barrett versus Randy Orton versus King Sheamus."

Wade says as leader of Nexus he will take final spot. CM Punk says that's fine, he doesn't want to fight Wade Barrett. He tells Wade to take the spot in the Steel Cage, that if Wade wins he'll prove he's a worthy leader to Nexus, but if he loses than CM Punk is going to lead Nexus. CM Punk extends his hand, the two shake hands. It's official. Wade can become Nexus Leader and Number One Contender tonight or he'll leave with nothing and CM Punk is the leader.

-Commercial Break. I can make tonight family night with Long John Silvers?! I don't have any kids or a wife! Thanks for reminding me, Long John Silvers. You jerks.

We go to the ring where Alberto Del Rio's ring announcer is standing by. What a pleasant surprise! I love Alberto! Alberto vs. Daniel Bryan, come on! Let it be against Daniel Bryan! :fingers crossed:

Alberto comes out and gets on the mic. He says his name, talks about his rich Mexican heritage, how his destiny is to be the World Heavyweight Champion, and that he is going to destroy every person on Smack down & Raw. R-Truths music hits. Ugh?

Match 4
Alberto Del Rio vs. R-Truth

R-Truth comes out singing "What's up?" Bummer too, I actually liked "right time for me to get nuck." or whatever the hell that song was.

R-Truth does that ridiculous arm thing then tells Alberto Del Rio that Alberto needs to go back where he came from! What a racist!

R-Truth gets the early advantage and takes Alberto to the outside. Truth hit's a splash over the top-rope.

-Commercial Break. We get that "Schick Hydro" commercial where everything keeps turning into water when it hits someone's face. Seems more inconvenient than anything. I'll stick with Gillette, it makes John Cena break my bathroom trash can but at least I wont be wet all the time.

We're back and Truth is hammering into Alberto at the corner. Alberto rushes at Truth but is hit with the scoop-slam. 2 count for truth. Alberto gets the upper hand, crushes Truths arm onto Del Rio's knees. Alberto begins work on the injured arm of Truth.

Alberto takes Truth down and begins twisting the arm. Truth fights to his feet and slaps Alberto. Truth tries to spring off the top rope but his arm gives out on him and he can't make the move. Alberto takes down Truth for another 2 count. Knees to the injured arm of Truth.

Alberto locks in another arm lock but Truth begins fighting to his feet. Alberto twisting away, trying to keep Truth down, but Truth ain't having that! Truth battles out, the two exchange hits and kicks. Alberto goes for drop kick but Truth moves, causing Alberto to fall through the ropes and onto the outside. Alberto ring announcer begins helping Alberto up. Alberto is back in the ring but Truth meets him with a series of close lines. Big hip-toss by Truth and he gets a 2 count. Truth goes for the "Lie Detector" but Alberto rolls out of the ring. Truth goes for Alberto but Alberto ends up sending Truth slamming arm first corner post. Alberto locks in the "Cross Arm Breaker" and Truth taps out!

Winner by Submission: Alberto Del Rio

-Commercial Break. Bobby Heenan DVD preview. As a wrestling fan I don't find DVD's without wrestling worth the money, but I hear great things about this one. If you like "The Brain" then use your brain and get it. Haha, see what I did there?

We're backstage with the Nexus as Wade Barrett is telling the rest of 'em how they have to consider him the true leader because all he has done for them. David wants Wade and Punk to work things out, but Wade says Punk is going to just use the Nexus for his own personal gang. CM Punk shows up and wishes Wade good luck with his match tonight. Punk shakes hands with everyone and walks off.

Backstage, Randy Orton and Kevin Teddy (that's my name for him now, no questions asked.) Randy complains about how last year he was too nice. He regrets showing compassion and this year he will not show any because, "nice guys finish last."

Steel Cage begins to lower, it's Main Event time! Wait, where was Daniel Bryan tonight?! Damn it, WWE! He's the US Champion! Do it for the soldiers!

-Commercial Break. Buy one, get one free at Burger King. I know where I'm going tomorrow!

Match 5
Steel Cage, Triple Threat, #1 Contenders Match (for WWE Title at Royal Rumble)
King Sheamus vs. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett

Here comes Sheamus and his plastic crown. He looks like a "Final Fantasy" villain.

"We walk alone?" here comes Wade Barrett.

We are told that John Cena MIGHT return to action next week.

"I hear voices" here comes Randy Orton!

The bell ring-a-ding-dings and we are underway! Three men stare each other down, Wade going for a quick escape, but is stopped. Sheamus and Orton begin working together on Wade, Sheamus tries to sneak out quickly but Orton scouts him and stops it. Orton takes out Sheamus but Barrett hit's a surprise boot to the skull to knock out Orton! Wade goes for "wasteland" but Orton slithers out and heads up the cage. Sheamus and Wade both take a leg and pull Orton back down. The heels work on Orton in the corner, trying to put him down. Orton battles to his feet but is taken back down. Wade tries to escape as Sheamus is distracted, but is stopped at the last minute by King Sheamus. Sheamus takes out Wade with a hard close line and begins his journey up the cage. Orton to his feet and takes down the King.

Orton goes to exit the door but both Wade and Sheamus stand tall behind him. Orton begins staring them down and we fade out?

-Commercial Break. "Can fifteen minutes save you 15% or more on car Insurance? Is a bird in the hand worth two in the bush?" Unbelievable, but yes.

We're back and Orton is about to escape but Sheamus has him by the head! Orton is dangling over the outside as Wade comes to help bring Orton back over the cage. All three men sit on the top of the cage. Orton is thrown off, Sheamus & Wade follow. Orton begins battling back, sending both men into the cage. Sheamus receives a dropkick into the steel, while Wade is thrown face first. Orton is about to hit the DDT on Sheamus but notices Wade scaling the cage. Orton takes him down and flips him into the steel. Sheamus counters Orton and throws him into the cage. Orton and Wade are down as Sheamus comes to his feet. The 2010 King of the Ring begins stomping on Orton before trying to escape again. Orton is up and takes the King by the ankles. Wade stops both Orton and Sheamus, which leads to the heels working on Orton again.

Double suplex on Orton, Wade tries to surprise Sheamus with a close line but Sheamus ducks and the two exchange blows around the ring. Wade reverses a irish whip and sends Sheamus crashing into the cage. Barrett begins climbing again but Orton is to his feet and gets a hold of Wades leg. Orton hit's a super-plex off the top rope, taking out Wade. Orton is slow to his feet and is met by Sheamus. Sheamus hit's the "Irish Curse" on Orton then moves on to the current leader of Nexus. Sheamus slams the head of Barrett into the cage then heads for the cage door. He gets his torso out but the Viper is there to grab the ankle. Sheamus stomps on Orton and heads to the other side of the ring and begins climbing. This time it's Wade Barrett back to his feet, stopping Sheamus. Wade repeatedly slams Sheamus into the steel then turns into Randy Orton. Orton goes for Wade but Wade surprises him with a side slam.

Wade is the only one to his feet. He begins climbing but Sheamus is there to stop him. Both men stand on the top rope and begin slamming each other into steel. Sheamus loses his footing and falls to the mat, leaving Wade up alone. Wade goes for an awkward elbow-drop, which Sheamus blocks with his knees. Sheamus to his feet and he begins staring down Barrett. Before Sheamus can take out Wade, Orton is there with the scoop slam. Orton hit's the Olympic slam on Barrett followed by the second-rope DDT. Randy turns into a kick by Sheamus, followed by Sheamus rushing to escape the cage. Orton acts quickly, stopping Sheamus mid-climb. Orton and Sheamus stand on top rope, battling. Wade shakes the rope, causing both men to fall hard to the mat. Wade begins to slowly escape.

CM Punk runs down to the ring and climbs the cage, extending a hand to Wade. Wade is reluctant at first, but accepts. CM Punk rips the Nexus armband off Wade Barrett then kicks him in the skull causing him to fall back down to the ring. Sheamus is up to his feet and yells for the referee to open the door. As he turns to leave Randy Orton hits an RKO out of nowhere! Randy Orton looks down on his fallen foes before exiting the cage.
