Honky Tonk Man Talks Not Being Contacted For RAW 1000, Billy Gunn - WWE, Lesnar

Mike Buda with Top Rope Radio on SportstownChicago.com recently interviewed Honky Tonk Man, who discussed the prestige of the Intercontinental title, his thoughts on Raw 1000, what he could contribute to WWE and more. You can listen to the show every Tuesday from 3-5pm CT. Here are some highlights from the interview.

On the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship: "They are trying and they have tried to bring it back to life with all their belts and everything to rejuvenate them a little bit...They say the public has a short memory, but in some cases, when you diminish a product, and your belts are one of your products, so far and you dig a hole so deep with them, it's hard for them to re-sprout and come back to life again."

On not being contacted for Raw 1,000: "It's no big deal. They used a lot of guys that are already on legends contracts and I'm not one of those. My situation would have been a little bit different. As far as appearing on TV, you've got to sign all these releases and do everything. The guys they have that they used on [Raw 1,000] and most of them are on a legends deal so it's just a day at the office to call them up and have them at the last minute."

On WWE possibly signing Billy Gunn: "Never say never when it comes to the WWE. They took Road Dogg back and he's a backstage agent now. What they call a producer; they don't call them agents anymore. I don't know what the heck they're producing. Billy's a good guy, a good talent and he's grown up now. He's matured a lot and I think another run for him, he can make something happen."

On WWE bringing back Brock Lesnar and young talent: "Well they need a little boost I suppose because they had to use Jim Ross, Jerry 'The King' Lawler and Michael Cole and several occasions they had to bring Stone Cold back and they had to bring the Rock back. It's like they have to bring back some of these guys to get some buzz going for whatever is going on with them. It's too bad because some of the young fellas have just not caught on. The audience is not gravitating to them."
