ROH TV Recap: Whitmer Battles Cole, Steen Responds To Lethal's Challenge And More

Ring of Honor opens this week with Jay Lethal confronting Kevin Steen. ROH matchmaker Nigel McGuinness is in the ring, and he calls Lethal down. He then calls Steen down, who is accompanied by SCUM.

Lethal says that wherever Steen goes, his scumbags follow him. He asks Steen to accept his challenge for the title like a man. Steve Corino interrupts him and says he would have thought Lethal's mother had taught him more respect. He says that Steen spit on Lethal's mother since his dad threw a drink at him.

Lethal calls Steen out and says he only cares about himself. He says Steen is afraid to accept his challenge, and that he is fueled by not only his desire to win, but also his hatred for Steen and his family.

Lethal says that Steen knows until he beats Lethal, he is nothing. Lethal formally issues his challenge, and Steen goes to the apron and accepts.

Veda Scott is then shown backstage with Michael Elgin. He says that he will beat Roderick Strong at 11th Anniversary, and that there will be Book of Truth to help Strong win.

Silas Young vs. Adam Page- Top Prospect Tournament

The two wrestlers tie up, and Young backs Page into the turnbuckle. Young knees Page in the gut, and the two exchange chops.

Page hits Young with a pair of shoulder knockdowns, and then tosses him to the mat. Page keeps the attack up.

Page goes up top and hits Young with a forearm. He goes to kick Young from the apron, but misses. Young hits Page's head off the turnbuckle, and then DDT's him into the ring.

Young hits a mule kick, and tries to attack more but Page comes back with several elbows. Page goes for a clothesline, but Young counters with a backbreaker.

Page comes back quickly with a few moments of offense and lands a Powerslam. Page drops Young to the outside, and then hits him with a shooting star press from the apron.

Page sends Young back into the ring, and hits a crossbody from the top rope. Page comes back with a full nelson bomb, and then locks in a sitting full nelson stretch. Page taps out.

Winner: Silas Young

After the match, Charlie Haas comes out and calls Ray Lewis a p***y (the show is in Baltimore). He flips off the camera and says he is angry BJ Whitmer is getting a TV Title shot, because no one even knew of him until he put him through a table.

He then complains about Nigel McGuinness booking him in a Tag Team Gauntlet match even though Shelton Benjamin isn't around. A man starts cleaning up all the things fans are throwing at Haas, and he gets angry. He starts yelling at the man, and calls him cheeseburger.

Haas asks the man what he is doing ringside, and the man says he is a member of the ROH Dojo. Haas says he is going to give him his chance in a match. The crowd chants cheeseburger.

Haas holds his hand out to the man to shake, which he obliges. Haas then belly-to-belly suplexes the guy over his head, across the ring. He then locks in the Haas of Pain, and the guy taps out.

Rhett Titus vs. Matt Hardy

Note that Rhett Titus' ribs are taped up. The two tie up and Hardy pushes Titus into the corner. Hardy goes to work on Titus' ribs. Titus fights back with a cross body.

Hardy heads to the outside. Titus tries to dive after him, but Hardy moves and Titus crashes to the floor. Hardy rolls Titus into the ring and goes back to work on his ribs.

Hardy nails Titus with a bulldog for a near pin fall. Hardy climbs the turnbuckle, but Titus hits him with a dropkick. The two go back and forth for a few moments, and Hardy comes out on top via a Side Effect.

Hardy attempts the Twist of Fate, but Titus counters with a backslide. Hardy goes to the apron, and Titus slides to the outside and pulls out Hardy's feet, causing his face to slam into the ring.

Hardy comes back quick by running Titus into a ring post. He then hits him with a Powerslam, and rolls him back into the ring. Hardy then hits the Twist of Fate for the win.

Winner: Matt Hardy

BJ Whitmer vs. ROH World TV Champion Adam Cole- TV Championship Match

The two do the Code of Honor, and they tie up. They go back and forth with wristlocks, and Whitmer comes out on top.

Whitmer delivers a few chops, and Matt Hardy comes out to commentary. Whitmer goes for a clothesline, but Cole counters with an arm lock.
Cole hits Whitmer with a neckbreaker. He runs after Whitmer, but he dodges and Cole crashes to the outside. Whitmer tries a suicide dive, but Cole catches him with an enziguri. Cole goes up top and tries to hit Whitmer with a splash, but he moves and Cole crashes.

Back from commercial, and Whitmer hits Cole with a big boot. They trade strikes and Cole comes out on top. He hits Whitmer with an enziguri and then a Shining Wizard. Whitmer then hits several different suplexes.

He whips Cole, but heads up top and hits Whitmer with a crossbody. Whitmer comes back and hits Cole with a superplex, but grabs his injured head.

Cole takes advantage and lands a Superkick and a German Suplex. He attempts the pin, but Whitmer kicks out. So, Cole hits the Florida Keys and picks up the victory via pin.

Winner and still champion: Adam Cole

After the match Cole and Hardy stare each other down.
