The Rock's New Movie Opens Big, Updated "GI Joe: Retaliation" Figures

The Rock's latest movie, GI Joe: Retaliation, opened worldwide to a massive $132 million. The movie is estimated to finish the weekend with $51.7 million domestically and $80.3 million overseas.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that it was the second-best Easter domestic gross, just behind the $61.2 million take for Clash of the Titans in 2010. It also came closer than expected to the original GI Joe movie, which opened to $54.7 million in August of 2009.

The movie is also being appreciated by the audiences, despite being rejected by critics. It is currently at a 29% with critics on movie aggregator site RottenTomatoes.com (a 60% is considered good), despite earning an A- CinemaScore.
