WWE NXT Recap: Langston Defends Against Sandow, New Ascension Member Teased?, Zayn Interview

NXT delves straight into a match this week.

Natalya vs. Summer Rae

They tie up and Natalya hip tosses Summer Rae. Summer reverses into a head scissors and Natalya kicks out. Natalya locks in a waist lock and then a chin lock. Summer tries to fight back but Natalya fireman carries her. Summer comes back with a wrist lock and slams Natalya to the mat. She whips Natalya, but Natalya lands a shoulder knock down. She tries to lock in the sharp shooter, but Summer gets to the ropes.

Natalya charges Summer, but Summer puts an elbow up. Summer tries to attack, but Natalya trips her and then strikes her into the corner. Natalya kicks Summer in the face and then discus clotheslines her. Summer calls for a time out and tells Natalya that she's sorry for what happened last week. Natalya walks up to her and Summer tosses her outside. Natalya gets up on the apron and Summer kicks her in the head.

Back from commercial and Summer gets a couple pin attempts. She slams Natalya into the corner and then chokes her with her boot. Summer charges Natalya, who reverses into a rollup attempt. Summer gets a DDT and slams Natalya's head into the mat multiple times. She gets a back elbow and then pulls Natalya's arm outwards. Paige comes down to ringside. She gets up on the apron as Natalya is attempting to lock in the Sharpshooter. Summer kicks Natalya off her, who flies back and hits Paige off the apron. Summer gets a quick roll up off the confusion for the win.

Winner: Summer Rae

After the match, Summer Rae runs off up the ramp and Paige takes off after her. Then, Renee Young is backstage with Sami Zayn (formerly El Generico). She says that Zayn is making his debut next week and says that he has a big reputation internationally. She then says that the man he'll be facing next week also has a reputation as a former tag team champion, Kurt Hawkins. Zayn says that Hawkins will be a formidable opponent. He says he isn't nervous and that it's not his first rodeo. He says some people might be nervous, but he isn't. He then says that it will be the start of a beautiful relationship with the WWE Universe. He says next week can't get here soon enough.

Bray Wyatt then comes down to the ring. He is wearing one of those broken nose masks and looks very creepy. He says that Jericho shook him and he realized that he had to get back to his roots. He says he is the face of fear and that it's the face of the eater of worlds. He says that he wants people to gaze into his face and know they can never hurt him because he's already dead.

Bray Wyatt (with the Wyatt Family) vs. Danny Burch

This is Burch's NXT debut. Wyatt charges Burch and slaps him in the face. Burch comes back with a series of strikes, but Wyatt clubs him into the mat via several forearms to the back. Wyatt grabs his head and punches him in the face. He whips Burch and then hits a cross body. He drags Wyatt to the corner and picks him up. He punches him in the gut several times and then lands a body avalanche. He dances with Burch around the ring and then hits Sister Abigail for the win.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Adrian Neville is backstage. Bo Dallas walks up and asks if he's still upset about the titles. Dallas says time heals all wounds. He talks about Cena for a bit and mentions how he won the Royal Rumble that Dallas was in. Neville says he knows who John Cena is. Dallas says never give up and that Neville might just make it after all. Neville asks him what he's talking about. Neville then asks him where he's been and Dallas says he was entering a battle royal to determine the number one contender to Big E. Langston. He then says that all the spots are filled up. Neville says that he entered himself in the battle royal too and then says may the best man win.

Conor O'Brian vs. Briley Pierce and Sakamoto

Sakamoto and Conor tie up. Conor tosses Sakamoto across the ring and then slams Sakamoto to the mat. Pierce comes in and Conor hits him with a big boot. Conor hits a series of shoulder knockdowns. He then lands a delayed vertical Suplex on Pierce. Sakamoto comes in and chops Conor, who screams back at Sakamoto. Pierce and Sakamoto try to club Conor's back at the same time. Conor then hits both of them with a series of strikes. Conor whips both of them into the same corner and then lands a body avalanche. Conor then lands a double flapjack for the win.

Winner: Conor O'Brian

After the match, Judas Devlin (I believe) comes out and stares at Conor O'Brian as he is posing in the ring. Corey Graves is then backstage with Tony Dawson. Tony says that the past few weeks in NXT have been a series of ups and downs for Graves. Graves says that his father told him he has to fail in order to succeed at something. Then he says that's why he entered himself in the NXT battle royal. Bray Wyatt then walks up and says he doesn't understand why Graves is trying to play Mr. Cool Guy while the greatest war in human history is going on outside his doorstep. Wyatt says that Graves doesn't know what he means, but that he should ask Kassius Ohno what he means. Wyatt says that NXT belongs to the eater of worlds. Graves says that Wyatt has been eating something. Graves says he doesn't have a family like Wyatt. He says all he has is what he believes and he believes that if Wyatt and his family keep messing with him, they're all going to stay down.

NXT Championship
Big E. Langston (c) vs. Damien Sandow

As Sandow is making his entrance, commentary says that next week Corey Graves will face Bray Wyatt in the main event.

They tie up and Langston backs Sandow to the ropes. The ref breaks it up. They tie up again and Langston backs Sandow into the corner. The ref breaks it up again. Langston gets a side headlock and delivers strikes to the gut. He bounds off the ropes and Langston gets a shoulder knockdown. Langston picks up Sandow in the Big Ending position but Sandow slides out. They tie up and Langston hits a body slam. Langston punches Sandow in the gut five times. Sandow delivers a series of punches and kicks and bounds off the ropes, but Langston hits a back elbow.

Sandow rolls to the apron and they exchange strikes. Langston tosses Sandow into the ring and whips Sandow into the corner. Langston charges Sandow, who puts an elbow up. Langston picks Sandow up in Big Ending position again, but Sandow slides to the outside. Back from commercial and Langston lands a delayed vertical. He whips Sandow into the corner and charges him, but Sandow moves. Sandow lands a clothesline to the back of the head and then lands multiple strikes. Sandow locks in a headlock on Langston on the mat. Langston gets to his feet and runs Sandow into the corner.

He lands a running shoulder to the gut on Sandow and then bounds off the ropes, but Sandow lands a dropkick. Sandow then locks in a head scissors. Langston fights out and shoves Sandow to the outside. Sandow quickly goes up top and lands a double axe handle. Sandow drops a knee on Langston and then locks in a headlock on the mat again. Langston fights out with some right hands, but Sandow lands a dropkick to the knee. He kicks Langston in the chest several times and then locks in another headlock.

Langston fights out and lands a belly to belly. He clotheslines Langston several times and then knees him in the gut five times. Langston lands his running body block. Langston picks Sandow up in Big Ending position and Sandow counters. Sandow knees Langston in the gut and lands his somersault Russian Leg Sweep. He goes for the Elbow of Disdain, but Langston moves. Langston whips Sandow, but Sandow counters into a spinning neckbreaker, followed by the Elbow of Disdain. Sandow tries for his straightjacket neckbreaker, but Langston counters into the Big Ending for the win.

Winner and still NXT Champion: Big E. Langston

After the match, Langston picks Sandow up and hits the Big Ending again, followed by the five count.
