Retro Wednesday: Brock Lesnar Vs. Big Show At The Royal Rumble - The First Time

In 2002, Brock Lesnar made his debut following WrestleMania 18. It did not take him long to become one of the top stars of the company. Just three months after his debut, he won the King of the Ring. Two months after that, he became the fastest wrestler to win the WWE Championship after his debut, defeating the Rock at SummerSlam. Behind the power and dominance of Lesnar was the mouthpiece and mentorship of Paul Heyman.

Lesnar continued to take the WWE by storm in 2002. Many tried to derail Lesnar but fell short. However, in a shocking turn of events, it ended up being his own agent, Paul Heyman, that dethroned him as champion. At the Survivor Series pay-per-view, Heyman betrayed Lesnar to align himself with the Big Show. Unfortunately, for Lesnar, it was at the expense of his WWE Championship. Lesnar and Big Show feuded for the remainder of the year.

Then, at the 2003 Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar and Big Show continued their heated rivalry in a match to determine which one would receive a spot in the Royal Rumble match. Lesnar won the match against Big Show, became the 29th pick, and subsequently won the Royal Rumble bout.
