Dana Critical Of Overeem For Calling Out Brock Lesnar, Weidman - Belfort, UFC 169 Bonuses & Gate

- Alistair Overeem defeated fellow heavyweight Frank Mir by decision last night at UFC 169, but to hear UFC president Dana White talk on FOX Sports last night, the Dutchman might as well have lost.

Overeem defeated Mir via unanimous decision, but many have criticized him for playing it safe in the bout. To add to that, following the lackluster win, Overeem called out Brock Lesnar, who he already beat and is not currently on the UFC roster.

"He fought safe," White asserted. "I think he could have finished Mir. He kept his job. Should Frank retire? We don't make those decisions tonight. Frank is tough. It was a crappy performance by Alistair and then he calls out someone who doesn't even fight in the UFC. It was not a great night for Overeem."

The win snapped a two-fight losing streak for Overeem, but it sounds like he may still be fighting for his place on the roster in his next outing.

- A date has been set for the middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Vitor Belfort. White also revealed on FOX Sports that Weidman vs. Belfort will take place on May 24 in Las Vegas and will feature a co-main event between heated rivals.

"Weidman will fight Vitor Belfort in Vegas Memorial Day Weekend," White said. "I'm excited about this fight. And yes, Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva will be the co-main event."

The event is expected to be numbered UFC 173.

- Abel Trujillo walked away UFC 169's biggest winner when it comes to bonuses, as the 30-year-old pocketed checks for Knockout and Fight of the Night.

Trujillo and Varner were awarded an increased $75,000 each for Fight of the Night after putting on a two-round barnburner. Trujillo took home the standard $50,000 award for Knockout of the Night for his emphatic comeback knockout over Varner.

There were no submissions on the card, so there was no award issued for Submission of the Night.

- UFC president Dana White announced at last night's post-fight press conference that UFC 169 drew a crowd of 14,308 for a total gate of $1.651 million.

The event took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and saw Renan Barao defend his bantamweight title with a controversial stoppage of Urijah Faber. Jose Aldo also defended his belt, defeating fellow featherweight Ricardo Lamas by unanimous decision.
