Jon Jones Dismantles Glover Teixeira For Seventh Consecutive Title Defense

Jon Jones continues to break records, making his seventh light heavyweight title defense at UFC 172. In the main event, Jones got the easy decision win over Glover Teixeira thanks to his striking ability.

"A lot of it was improve," said Jones post-fight. "I saw he was trying to pick me apart from distance and realized he was winding up. You can't wind up when someone is on you, so it worked out great."

The two 205 pounders went the full 25 minutes, but Jones was in control the entire time.

Jones won the belt in 2011 and has been tearing through the division. The biggest threat came last year from Alexander Gustafsson, who is expected to get a rematch in the near future.

This was the first UFC defeat for Teixeira and he drops to 22-3. Teixeira's 20 fight win streak was also snapped in the process.

"I realized I was a lot better hand fighter than he was, which comes from years and years of wrestling."
