WWE Smackdown Recap (6/23): Seth Rollins, AJ Styles In Action, Becky Lynch Loses In A Minute, More

Welcome to tonight's coverage of WWE Smackdown from Wrestling Inc.! Tonight's show is scheduled to feature Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Sasha Banks and more!

- Seth Rollins comes out, and says that he's not happy about Ambrose stealing his title. He explicitly states that he's facing Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at Battleground, so that's still happening. He then makes an open challenge, which Sami Zayn answers. Rollins doesn't let Zayn say anything, and just tells Zayn he's the perfect person to make an example of.

Dean Ambrose shows up and calls them amateurs and has a crew set up the Ambrose Asylum decor. Rollins is hilarious as he begs them to not do it, but Ambrose offers him a water. Rollins just gets mad and leaves.

Cesaro vs. Alberto Del Rio

Cesaro starts out strong, but right before the commercial break, Del Rio takes the advantage and starts working on the previously injured shoulder of Cesaro. Del Rio locks on the cross-armbreaker over the ropes. Cesaro comes back with his signature springboard European uppercut, followed by a double foot stomp that gets him a two count. Del Rio gets a superkick to a kneeling Cesaro, but falls victim to an arm drag when he takes too long to hit the foot stomp. Cesaro counters an armbar with a Neutralizer for the win.

Winner: Cesaro via pinfall (Neutralizer)

- David Otunga has replaced Jerry Lawler in the booth, by the way. He's like Byron Saxton, but about a notch better.

Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews

Crews stops an offensive surge from Sheamus with an enziguri and a standing moonsault, but Sheamus kicks out. A big kick to the face slows Crews down, and Sheamus unhinges the ring stairs. He's welcomed by a Crews dropkick, but then kicks Crews into the stairs for a countout win.

Winner: Sheamus via countout

- The Club is backstage and they clown on the Usos. Styles promises if Jimmy Uso faces AJ Styles, the Club won't get involved. Styles gives his "wordski." The Usos fake a handshake and laugh at the Club.

AJ Styles (w/ The Club) vs. Jimmy Uso (w/ Jey Uso)

Styles thwarts Uso at every turn before slamming his head into the ring apron while trying to get a countout win. Uso fights back after an extended beat down, and looks like he's trying to tag his brother, but it's a singles match. Uso finds a home for a pop-up Samoan drop. The Club attack Jey Uso, and Jimmy flies over the ropes to his brother's rescue. AJ jumps over the top rope onto both Usos, then finishes Jimmy off with a Phenomenal Forearm.

Winner: AJ Styles via pinfall (Phenomenal Forearm)

New Day (w/ Xavier Woods) vs. Vaudevillains

Vaudevillains are successful early, but this match is abbreviated as Big E gets a hot tag and lands about three belly-to-belly suplexes on Simon Gotch. Shortly after, Big E and Kofi hit Midnight Hour for the win.

Winners: New Day via pinfall (Midnight Hour)

Bray Wyatt shows up on the Titantron and says New Day has the Power of Positivity, but used it to interrupt his return, and that will prove to be a mistake. New Day aren't laughing anymore.

- Bob Backlund is reviewing Darren Young's goals. Young says his goal is to win singles gold and to main event a WrestleMania. Bob Backlund wants to make this the Darren Young era.

- Sami Zayn is backstage with Greg Hamilton and they talk about the feud with Kevin Owens. Zayn says his career won't move forward until he puts things to rest with Owens.

- Charlotte and Dana Brooke are talking to Renee Young and are asked Sasha Banks. Charlotte says Sasha will bow down to her.

Becky Lynch vs. Dana Brooke (w/ Charlotte)

Becky lands some strikes and an inverted DDT, but is distracted by Charlotte and is pinned quickly.

Winner: Dana Brooke via pinfall

Becky fends off Dana Brooke after the match, but Charlotte boots her in the face. Sasha Banks makes the save and applies the Banks Statement to Dana Brooke.

Seth Rollins vs. Sami Zayn

Dean Ambrose is on commentary for this one. Sami Zayn starts out hot with a running head scissors and a series of chops. Rollins comes back aggressively, running right into Zayn in the corner with forearms and a Slingblade. Rollins underestimates Zayn and pays a price when he gets a big lariat to the face. Zayn beats the hell out of Rollins with a bunch of punches in the corner, then a clothesline outside the ring. Back inside, Zayn gets the Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Zayn tries a Helluva Kick, but gets dropkicked. Zayn rolls up Rollins for a close two count and hits a big tornado DDT. Rollins leaves the ring to avoid a Helluva kick, but Zayn comes over the top rope with a tope con hilo. Rollins catches Zayn coming back in the ring with a Pedigree for the win.

Winner: Seth Rollins via pinfall (Pedigree)

After the match, Rollins narrowly escapes a Dirty Deeds from Ambrose to go off the air.
