WWE/Congress Update, Foley/Torrie, Austin Upset?, More

WWE/Congress Update, Foley/Torrie, Austin Upset?, MorePartial Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

As noted yesterday here on the site, the United States Congress has sent out letters to some WWE superstars, requesting to talk with them. While we do not know the superstars that have been contacted or the exact nature of the letters, we are able to confirm that one of the company’s top superstars that has been linked to steroids in the past, but not in the Signature case, was sent a letter. Apparently the letter told the superstar to remain alert as they could be asked to testify before Congress.

Mick Foley and Torrie Wilson are currently in China for World Wrestling Entertainment representing the company for the Special Olympics Summer Games in Shanghai.

Shawn Michaels will be making a personal appearance at the Arab, Alabama Community Church on October 7th.

Steve Austin mentioned in the director’s commentary of The Condemned DVD that he was originally scheduled to play the role of the lead villain in the movie that eventually went to Vinnie Jones. Austin said that when he brought the project to Vince McMahon he told him that he would be behind it if he could play the lead character of Jack Conrad. Austin mentioned that he did The Condemned over The Marine, however, if he would have known what he knows now he would have rather done The Marine given the amount of success.

In exactly one month (November 1st) the names of WWE performers that fail Wellness Tests will be made available to the public. While the new stipulation is certainly going to be embarrassing for performers that are exposed, many within the company hope that it will serve as a further deterrent for superstars that have been using illegal substances.
