Reid, a standout amateur wrestler, was involved in the Ric Flair - Eric Bischoff storyline in WCW in 2000. Ric and WCW had also gotten into a legal battle when Ric took some time off to watch Reid compete in amateur contests and missed some scheduled appearances. Flair had claimed that he had asked for that time off while WCW contested that he didn't and violated his contract.
