The release of Ariel (Shelly Martinez) has was considered a surprise, especially considering she was a weekly TV character. The main reason for her departure was the internal feeling that she didn't have the right look. She lost her biggest supporter when Paul Heyman departed the creative team. Despite internet reports, he wasn't released due to a backstage incident with Batista although the two did get into an argument at a recent SD! taping which probably didn't help matters.

WWE felt Scotty 2 Hotty's ring work wasn't improving. He is also injured again, and is expected to miss most of the summer.

Spirit Squad member Mitch has had back problems which limited his in-ring ability a big amount and his release was likely due to that.

The general feeling was that Angel Williams wasn't pretty enough to be a WWE diva as noted here on the site yesterday.
