CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke for the ECW Championship is up first. After Punk entered the ring, a fairly lengthy recap was shown of Punk defeating John Morrison for the ECW Championship. After the recap was shown, Burke was shown in the ring and the match is underway. Punk won the match in a decent opener with a rollup.
Matt Hardy and U.S. Champion MVP vs. Deuce and Domino for the WWE Tag Team Championship is up next. MVP came to the ring first, Hardy entered next. JBL noted that MVP is the only dual champion right now. Deuce and Domino came in next. MVP and Hardy imitated each others mannerisms and moves early on. At the end of the match, Hardy used MVP as a battering ram and scored the pin on Deuce.
Triple H vs. Carlito is up next. The rules of this match are that Carlito can’t be disqualified with Triple H can. Triple H entered the ring first. A recap of Triple H vs. King Booker was shown. Calito entered next. Triple H had the advantage early on until Carlito hit Triple H with the ring bell. Crowd has been surprisingly dead for this match, as they’ve been so far all night. Carlito followed by choking Triple H in the ring with a cable. Carlito’s offense usually came after using a foreign object like trash cans and powder to the eyes. Triple H won the match after hitting a pedigree on Carlito.
A WrestleMania 24 promo aired. Maria then interviewed Batista backstage.
Candice Michelle vs. Beth Phoenix for the WWE Women’s Championship is up next. Phoenix entered the ring first followed by Candice, who came in to a clubbier remix of her entrance song. Phoenix dominated the match, but Michelle reversed a Samoan drop from Phoenix to score the surprise pin.
Todd Grisham interviewed The Great Khali and Rajan Singh backstage. Singh put a mask on a cantaloupe and Khali crushed it. Khali then crushed a watermelon saying that would happen to Batista.
The triple threat for the World Heavyweight Championship is up next. Batista entered the ring first followed by Rey Mysterio. The Great Khali entered last with Rajan Singh. Batista won the World Heavyweight Championship after hitting a spinebuster on The Great Khali and pinning him. Far better match than you’d expect.
