The Colin Delaney angle on ECW wasn't originally planned as it started off as a bit of an accident. They originally booked indy wrestler Pepper Parks as the local guy from a Rochester high school to lose to Shelton Benjamin. When he got to the arena, they thought he was too big, so they nixed plans on using him. They were looking for someone else, and on the recommendation of Parks and another indy wrestler who was too big for the role in Brodie Lee, suggested Delaney, who is their friend who lived in the area.
