Tons Of Royal Rumble News: Who Was Backstage & More

Tons Of Royal Rumble News: Who Was Backstage & More
Source - PWInsider

Not only did UFC purchase a commercial advertising Brock Lesnar’s upcoming fight after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view last night, they also purchased a commercial on a digital screen outside of Madison Square Garden. The commercial ran over and over as fans entered the building to watch this year’s Royal Rumble.

The following superstars were backstage last night in case they were needed for a last minute fill-in: Matt Hardy, Hacksaw Duggan, Funaki, DH Smith, Brian Kendrick, Beth Phoenix, Michelle McCool, Jillian Hall, Melina, Victoria, Mickie James, Matt Striker, Layla El, Armando, Kelly Kelly, William Regal and The Highlanders.

Both Michael Hayes and CM Punk quietly slipped into the crowd last night to watch Ric Flair’s promo before his match with MVP. Once MVP began entering, they returned backstage.

More off air notes from Royal Rumble: Besides the dark match, Lilian Garcia sang the national anthem and two music videos were run; one as a tribute to Ric Flair and the other was highlights from WrestleMania 23.

Yesterday’s Beth Phoenix and Brian Kendrick’s signing in New York City drew approximately 350 fans. WWE finished off the AXXESS event with an appearance by Ric Flair that drew approximately 600-800 fans. Jimmy Hart and Hillbilly Jim were also present at all three days of the AXXESS tour.
