Lesnar's UFC Payrate, Plus An Update On His Tapout Last Night

Lesnar's UFC Payrate, Plus An Update On His Tapout Last Night
According to Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports, Brock Lesnar would have been able to pocket $450,000 if he won his UFC debut last night. That figure would have included $250,000 just to show up and a $200,000 bonus if he won. The $250,000 base pay is more guaranteed money than any other fighter on the card. Considering Lesnar has just one professional mixed martial arts fight to his credit, it says a lot about how much Dana White is banking on him.

Brock Lesnar spoke to Yahoo! Sports last night shortly after his submission loss to Frank Mir at UFC 81: “Breaking Point”. Lesnar looked unstoppable in the early part of the fight, but he just got by a submission specialist.

"There’s no shame in losing. I lost my first amateur wrestling match as a kid. My coach told me when I was wanting to quit, that you first have to lose before you learn how not to lose. I don’t like to lose so I have to learn not to lose in this sport. Obviously I’m disappointed, but it was a great experience. I must have worked on defending that leglock 1,000 times maybe. I thought I was going to get out. I’m here for as long as I can fight here. I love what I’m doing. The company has been great.”

Several big names from the world of pro wrestling were in attendance at last night's UFC 81 pay-per-view to see Brock Lesnar's big debut. Here's a list of the superstars shown on camera: Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Rena "Sable" Lesnar. Each of them received a warm reception from the audience. TNA personalities Mike Tenay and Jeremy Borash were also in attendance.
