Cena started the match going for the FU early and Jericho retreated to the outside of the ring. The scar on Cena's neck is pretty nasty from the surgery. Bask in the ring, Jericho locks in a headlock and was obviously whispering instructions while having him in the hold. He then threw Cena into the ropes and shoulderblocked him outside of the ring. Cena spent a minute outside regrouping before charging into the ring and attacking Jericho. Cena worked over Jericho for a bit before going for the STFU, which led to Jericho scuttling away and getting back his feet.

At one point, Cena climbed to the top rope and thought better of it, and climbed back down. Jerry Lawler noted that Cena seems apprehensive and Michael Cole pointed out that it was Cena's move from the top rope onto Batista at SummerSlam that caused the injury. Jericho regained the advantage and worked over Cena for the next several minutes.

Cena was finally able to regain the advantage to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He went for the five knuckle shuffle, but Jericho was able to reverse it into a half crab, it wasn't quite the Walls Of Jericho, but close. Shortly after he was able to fully get on the Walls Of Jericho. He held onto it for awhile but Cena made the ropes. Jericho then charged Cena, but Cena was able to get Jericho up and hit the FU and both men are down. Cena inched his way over the Jericho and was only able to get a two count.

Jericho regained the advantage and positioned Cena at at the top of the corner. Cena was able to push Jericho off and this time was on the top rope and jumped off, hitting a leg drop on Jericho. He was then going to go for an FU again, but Jericho was able to hit the codebreaker for a two count. There is a surprising lack of heat in this match except for the hot spots.

Jericho was back in the dominant position and nailed Cena with a clothesline that kept Cena down for awhile. As Cena got up, Jericho nailed Cena with another clothesline. As Cena started to get back up, Jericho went for another clothesline but Cena was able to turn it into the STFU. Jericho went for the ropes, but Cena grabbed him and pulled him back to the center. Jericho kicked Cena in the head, but Cena grabbed him and nailed the FU to get the three count and win the Wold Heavyweight Championship.

Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: John Cena

After the match, Cena climbed over the barricade and hugged his father and other family and friends. Lawler noted that it was the first time in Survivor Series history that two world championships have changed hands.
