According to reports Marty Jannetty was actually injured while working against the Miz on Raw. He's been dealing with some kind of back issue and that's why he seemed to be one step behind in his match. Of course he could not reject a WWE pay day so took his chances.

Jannetty still works semi-regular on the Indy scene and has been training up-and-comers on and off for several years.
