Backstage News & Notes Following Royal Rumble PPV
Backstage News & Notes Following Royal Rumble PPVOn Sunday Night HEAT on WWE.com before the PPV aired, Jerry Lawler and Joey Styles were hyping the Women's Match at the Royal Rumble, but the production crew accidentally showed the JBL vs. Boogeyman graphic.

For the first time that I can remember the Royal Rumble took place in the middle of the PPV. It usually ends the show but this year they decided to end the show with two Championship Matches.

At the end of the event, as many of you know, The Undertaker came out and signaled that he wanted the World Heavyweight Championship and then the ropes and then ring broke with Kurt Angle inside of it. The two are expected to go one-on-one at No Way Out. Undertaker vs. Mark Henry is still being rumored for WrestleMania, however, unless plans change.

Tatanaka, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Eugene, and Goldust all returned last night for the PPV.

Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler both did the Royal Rumble Match together this year.

The Royal Rumble marked the official return of a heel Shane McMahon. The McMahons turned heel a bit after it returned to USA Network, however, Shane McMahon was never part of the McMahons that turned heel. Vince McMahon came out during the Royal Rumble to distract him when Shane McMahon would eliminate Shawn Michaels from behind. After HBK was eliminated, he chased Shane McMahon to the back. Vince McMahon then remarked that "It wasn't him, it was Shane." Shane is at every PPV and is why he made an appearance.

The only possible reason that the World Heavyweight Championship ended the show was because of the Undertaker appearance. Other than that, I'm sure nobody wanted to see Mark Henry main event a show as big as the Royal Rumble.
