![]() Event: WWE SmackDown! Location: From Trenton, NJ. Report by: J.D. Dunn From 411Mania.com
Your hosts are Michael Cole and John Bradshaw Layfield. King Booker (w/Queen Sharmell) vs. Bobby Lashley. JBL's fawning over Booker is pretty funny. William Regal and Fit Finlay jump Lashley in the aisle for a tripleteam. Matt Hardy and Gunner Scott come out to make the save. [NR] Mr. Kennedy vs. Nick Berk. IIRC, Berk was Kerwin White's old caddie. Or was that Nick Nemeth? I'm confusing my Nicks. Kennedy dominates Berk and finishes with the "Green Bay Meat Packer." 1/4* In the back, the Mexicools plot strategy. So Super Crazy didn't go to ECW? That would have seemed to have been a no-brainer. Sylvan shills for the Quebec tourism industry. Hey, this is your third gimmick, Sylvan. Better make it count. Handicap Match: The Great Khali (w/Daivari) vs. The Mexicools. The Mexicools attack, but Khali just shoves them aside. Super Crazy gets fired up and tries a crossbody. NACHOOOOOOOOOO! He just bounces off. Psicosis runs off to leave Crazy in there with the big guy, and Khali finishes with a two-fisted chokeslam at 2:04. That's not enough for Daivari, though. He has to tempt fate by badmouthing Undertaker.shtml">The Undertaker. We're not close enough to the Great American Bash, though, so Taker doesn't come out yet. 1/4* The Miz acts all WACKY because WACKY means ratings. It's like Robin Williams on windowpane. He lets Ashley introduce the next match. Matt Hardy & Gunner Scott vs. William Regal & Fit Finlay. Not that Finlay and Regal aren't a cool team and all, but I want to see them beat the everlovin' snot out of one another. JBL implies Cole is a lesbian. He's not doing so bad tonight, but if this is to be a regular gig, he needs to learn not to rely on shtick. He goes off on Matt Hardy because "he could have been the next Shawn Michaels, but instead he's Marty Janetty." Matt dominates Finlay, so Fit fakes an eye injury while Regal sneak attacks Regal. Matt hits a pescado on Finlay, but "the Little Bastard" grabs the shillelagh and lowblows Matt to turn the tide again. Matt plays face-in-peril. Regal shoves Matt off the top as we go to break. When we come back, Matt is taking a stiff beating from the European contingent. Finally, Matt avoids a Finlay corner charge and gets the hot tag to Scott. Scott busts out his poor man's Benoit offense to clean house. The ref gets distracted by Regal, though, and Finlay finishes Scott with the shillelagh at 14:31. After the match, Finlay sics the Little Bastard on Hardy and Scott. **3/4 Another look at "See No Evil," which "continues to dominate the box office," according to Michael Cole. General Manager Theodore Long finds King Booker and Queen Sharmell and tells them the match with Lashley is still on. Chavo Guerrero talks about his decision to retire. Michael Cole tells him that the fans want him to come back, according to a WWE.com pole. Chavo says the only thing that would bring him back is the fans. Mark Henry interrupts to tell Chavo not to come back because guys like Benoit and Batista are afraid of him. Chavo tries to show he's not afraid and takes a pair of World's Strongest Slams. Vito vs. Scott Wright Wright makes fun of Vito's dress, so Vito mauls him and yells at the crowd about how much he loves his dress. Cole and JBL try to put him over as a face, but the live crowd isn't buying it. Vito gives Wright a flying DDT and finishes with a stepover hammerlock at 2:52. 1/2* King Booker (w/Sharmell) vs. Bobby Lashley. Lashley comes out with a bandaged knee, so Booker goes out to the aisle and goes right at it. To the ring, Booker hits a thrust kick. Lashley has a hard time getting anything going as Booker slaps on a chinlock. Lashley powers back and hits a pair of clotheslines. He misses a spear, though, and falls to the outside. We come back from break to Booker hitting a side kick. Lashley catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex, but Booker tosses him to the floor and hits a sliding dropkick. Back in, Lashley blocks a suplex and hits one of his own. He staggers into the Book End for two, though. A side kick gets two more for Booker, and he goes back to a chinlock. Lashley powers up and catches Booker with a powerslam to pick up the win at 16:02. **1/4 |
