WrestleMania 25 & Backlash Buyrates, Edge Note, & More News

As noted last week, World Wrestling Entertainment reported this past Thursday that WrestleMania XXV drew fewer than the targeted 1.0 million pay-per-view buys, according to their preliminary figures. According to a chart posted on their corporate website, the show drew approximately 975,000 buys. Company executives said during their quarterly conference call with investors a weeks ago that they were confident WrestleMania would reach 1.0 million pay-per-view buys. However, not all buys have been accounted for, so it's still a possibility. The pay-per-view buy number for Backlash was also released and it drew fewer than 200,000 buys. Preliminary figures have the show doing 185,000 buys. Last year's event drew 200,000 total buys.
