Ex-WWE Star 'Eugene' To Debut In ROH, Angle's Mentor Dies

– The Fight Network announced the following today: Leonard Asper, formerly of CanWest Global, has secured a significant ownership stake in The Fight Network, alongside a group of the former shareholders including Loudon Owen and Ed Nordholm to name a few. Asper assumes the role of CEO effective immediately. Asper plans to re-energize our overall business plan, which includes investment in capital, programming, marketing, sales and digital media.

– Nick Dinsmore, who wrestled as Eugene in WWE, is backstage at the ROH on HDNet tapings and is scheduled to work tonight's and tomorrow's tapings. Jim Cornette has always been a fan of Dinsmore's. Expect a complete gimmick change as well. He's very solid in-ring as well. Some OVW talent will be appearing in dark matches.

– The legendary Japanese star Jushin "Thunder" Liger is scheduled to appear for Jersey All Pro Wrestling's shows this weekend. Liger will take part on the annual Best of the Light Heavyweights in Rahyway, NJ on Friday and then will take on Mike Quackenbush on Saturday afternoon's show at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia.

– John du Pont, who was convicted in the 1995 murder of Kurt Angle's mentor Dave Schultz, passed away at the age of 72 at the Pennsylvania state correctional facility in Laurel Highlands. Angle had been training at du Pont's facility at the time of the murder and immediately left after, becoming the first member of the Dave Schultz Wrestling Camp, which sponsored his Olympic bid. Angle dedicated his cold medal with to Schultz. Du Pont died of natural causes.
