Jim Ross to receive Lou Thesz Award from National Wrestling Hall of Fame

WATERLOO, Iowa--One of the biggest names in professional wrestling will be recognized by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum. Jim Ross, a ring announcer and an executive for World Wrestling Entertainment, will receive the Lou Thesz Award at the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame inductions on July 22-23.

The Lou Thesz Award is given to an individual in wrestling who has taken the skills of professional wrestling into the realm of public service. The award is presented by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum and Eblen Charities.

Eblen Charities is a North Carolina based non-profit organization that assists children, adults, and families in times of need.

Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco will present Ross his award at an induction banquet on Saturday, July 23. The banquet will be held at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

"Jim Ross carries the passion and dedication to make this profession the very best it can be, "said Brisco. "I think Lou Thesz would be honored to know good old JR will be receiving this great award."

  • The Urban Wrestling Federation sent out the following today...

Sunday, June 26th 2011 -- the wrestling world really will change as the Urban Wrestling Federation is laying it all out there uncensored on national pay per view. Never before has a wrestling company gone over-the-line all the time, until now. The streets of hip hop meet pro wrestling. The ring is the new block, and the fights go down anywhere, as the UWF is the Grand Theft Auto of pro wrestling.

The UWF thrives on reality based story-lines that go on everyday urban communities across the United States, as well as the world. There is no sugar-coating in the Urban Wrestling Federation (besides the hot video vixens), no topic is safe, and people better watch their back because you never know who is coming for your money and turf.

The hip hop shot callers converge on New York city for an all out street war, and even end up in the famed Hammerstein Ballroom to settle scores and position their crews as the dominant street gang with their eyes on the Urban Wrestling Federation World Title. If a crew controls the World Title, their crew controls the UWF money.

The UWF is not your typical pro wrestling company by any means. We have provided various video teaser reels, but these are done under the scope of national TV broadcasting. Meaning you can't really get a full feel of the raw, gritty, realness that is shown on the Urban Wrestling Federation Pay Per Views. This is not what you know as regular wrestling by any means! we guarantee when "FIRST BLOOD" goes off the air Sunday, June 26th --your jaw will be dropped, and everyone will be talking UWF come Monday morning!

This is going to be one action packed hour, without a doubt.
