WrestlingINC.com has learned that Michael "Joe Hennig" McGillicutty suggested to John Laurinaitis that he use his real name last week. He was apparently told, "When you start performing like a Hennig, you can be a Hennig."

Hennig had wrestled under his real name in FCW from 2007-2010, but was given the ring name Michael McGillicutty when he debuted for WWE as a cast member of the second season of NXT. The third-generation wrestler is the son of "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig.
