WWE "Main Event" Recap: New Champion Crowned, Ryback Accepts Challenge

Welcome to the WrestlingInc.com WWE Main Event Recap.

This week's show begins with the opening theme and pyro. Michael Cole welcomes us on voice-over and then welcomes us again with JBL from in the ring. JBL puts himself over. Cole sends to a video from RAW of Kofi's brutal kick to Miz' head. We go to a video package for, and narrated by Kofi.

We go to the back and Kofi calls his kick the "Kick heard 'round the world." We go to the ring and Miz interrupts JBL's analysis. He comes to the ring and is sporting stitches in his forehead. Cole says it's 6 stitches. Miz says he's the man of steel and awesome. He sends to a highlight video for himself. It's a rather good look for him. Back to the ring, and Miz tells Kofi to come and get his title. Kofi's music hits and he comes to the ring. We go to commercial.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Miz (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

We return for Lilian Garcia's introductions; Cole and JBL put over the Intercontinental Championship. The crowd chants for Kofi as the combatants lock-up. Kofi backs Miz into the corner and they trade pie-faces. Miz tries to control Kofi with a side headlock takedown. Kofi reverses into an arm submission but Miz reaches the ropes. Miz hits another takedown and Kofi reverses it again. Miz hits a shoulderblock and motions for Kofi to bring it. Kofi hits a couple shoulderblocks of his own and monkey flips Miz. Kofi clotheslines him out of the ring and follows up with a running Senton over the top. Kofi hits a springboard clothesline from the apron to Miz in the ring and gets 2. Miz lands an elbow on the nose to turn things around. Miz stomps Kofi and applies a reverse chinlock. They go back and forth with near-falls. Miz ducks Trouble In Paradise and dips to the outside as we go to commercial.

We're back as Kofi lands kicks to Miz in the corner. Kofi mounts Miz and hits shots to the head but Miz powerbombs him down but is unable to immediately capitalize; Kofi kicks out. Miz hits his patented clothesline in the corner and keeps the pressure on. Miz gets another near-fall. Kofi works up from a headlock and slams Miz but Miz gets his knees up on the follow-up. They collide in the center of the ring as the crowd starts to get behind Kofi. Miz bumps around for Kofi. Kofi jumps on the top turnbuckle and Miz pushes him to the floor. We go to commercial.

We're back and Miz is in control in the ring. Miz kicks a seated Kofi twice in the head and hooks the far leg lackadaisically and gets 2. Miz goes for a third kick but Kofi lays flat and rolls Miz up for 2. Miz charges and misses in the corner. Kofi slowly makes it up and atomic drops Miz. They trade shots in the center. Kofi holds on to the ropes on the reversal and launches Miz over the top. Kofi misses with the slide under the ropes and Miz sends him toward the steel steps but Kofi flips over them in an impressive spot. Kofi runs up the steps and delivers a flying punch to Miz. Kofi gets 2 in the ring. Kofi catches Miz with a kick to the head and hits a crossbody off the top but Miz reverses the momentum and lands on top for 2. Miz sends Kofi in but he just bounces back off the ropes and hits a clothesline to Miz. Kofi hits the Boom Drop and calls for the Trouble in Paradise but Miz ducks and tries his Skull Crushing Finale. Kofi ducks between the legs to try to flips Miz but Miz just holds his legs and pins him while also holding Kofi's tights but Kofi still kicks out. Kofi hits S.O.S after an exchange in the corner but Miz gets his foot on the rope.

Miz asks for his title and begins to stumble toward the back but Kofi intercepts him with a crossbody over the top. Kofi sends him back in and Miz gets the advantage with a vicious DDT and Kofi stays alive. Miz stalks Kofi from behind as Kofi gets up for the Skull Crushing Finale but Kofi counters with an armdrag. Miz hits a boot to the face in the corner and puts his feet on the ropes but the ref catches him. Kofi rolls Miz up from behind as Miz argues with the ref. Miz rolls through but Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise to the head and hooks the far leg for the win.

Winner by pin and New WWE Intercontinental Champion: Kofi Kingston

Kofi celebrates in the ring with the title as Cole and JBL tout the match. Matt Striker congratulates Kofi in the ring and calls it an upset. Kofi says he told us it was time to let the beast out. He says this was one of the most grueling challenges in his career. He puts over the history of the Intercontinental Title and says this is for the entire WWE Universe. He says you can have fun and still win. He gives a Boom Boom Boom to Miz. We go to commercial.

We see a replay of what just happened and go to a close-up shot of a distraught Miz in the locker room. Josh Mathews approaches him and asks him how he feels. Miz says it feels like losing a heart or a liver. He says it was stolen from him and it's a nightmare. He says he wants a rematch and he will reclaim what's his.

Cole and JBL discuss things as Vickie interrupts with her never annoying self. She introduces Dolph Ziggler as we go to commercial.

Zack Ryder makes his entrance.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder

Ziggler starts off strong. Ziggler hits a boot in the corner and keeps his opponent down. Ziggler gyrates and drops an elbow to Vickie's approval but only gets 2. Ryder works up but falls victim to a nice standing dropkick from Ziggler. Ryder hits a vicious clothesline but is slow to capitalize. Ryder hits a double knee in the corner and a dropkick off the second turnbuckle. JBL tells Cole to stop saying Vickie is screeching in the corner because she knows Gloria Allread and she will sue him. Ryder hits the Broski Boot and hooks the far leg but Ziggler kicks out. Ziggler launches Ryder into the top turnbuckle and hits finisher for the win.

Winner by pin: Dolph Ziggler

Vickie gets on the mic in the ring and literally says, "Blah Blah Blah." She puts over Ziggler and says that he very well may cash-in his briefcase at Hell in a Cell. Ziggler says he deserves better than Ryder. He says he is the best thing going and he is the Main Event. He challenges any superstar in the back for next week's show. After a short pause and trash talking from Ziggler?"Feed Me More." Ziggler looks concerned. Ryback walks out on the stage and stares Ziggler down.
