Recent Paul Bearer Interview Where He Discussed Not Being In The WWE HOF, Undertaker's Longevity

Back in January, Paul Bearer sat down with Chris Yandek of CYInterview to discuss his career in pro wrestling. Here are some highlights from the interview.

His thoughts on Undertaker's gimmick: "I signed my first contract with WWE on December 22nd, 1990, and here we are in 2013. It's just mind-boggling. That's 23 years. In my mind, it just went by like that. I get asked this question all the time, when I do interviews such as yours. Back when I first started with the Undertaker, did I think the gimmick would last this number of years? No way, and he didn't either. And he don't, he'd tell you the same thing. We didn't have a clue. It was just, I've been very, very blessed in professional wrestling."

His start in the business, and whether or not he was still a fan: "I'm just an Alabama kid, from the Alabama gulf coast. I grew up watching local territory days wrestling. I didn't know anybody in the business; I didn't have any family in the business. I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging, but I guess I am bragging in a way. I got in on my own. I first started out as a wrestler, I was a wrestler, in 1974. So we're looking at 2013, how many years will that be? I don't know if I want to do the math or not, Chris. As far as where we're going. I don't know. I don't think about that very often because I don't know where they're going I know I'm going to be around wherever they go. I'm not real too concerned with that. I do keep my finger on the pulse of the business and by that I mean I've always been a fan. I've been a fan since I was a kid. I'm still a fan. I still watch 'rasslin. 'Rasslin? I'm from Alabama, I watch 'rasslin!"

On why he isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame: "I'm in no hurry. I try not to brag, I really do. Sometimes I come across like I'm bragging. I know that I will. And so, that's all I need to know. Whether it's next year, or whether it's five years from now, I know the time's coming."
