'GI Joe' Slips From The Top Spot, WWE On Success Of 'The Call,' 'Pain & Gain' Promo

- Above is the promo that aired during WrestleMania for The Rock's next movie, Pain & Gain.

- GI Joe: Retaliation slipped from the top spot at the U.S. box office over the weekend, dropping to #2. The movie took in $21.1 million, bringing it's domestic total to $86.7 million. It grossed an additional $40.2 million overseas, bringing its worldwide total to $231.9 million.

- WWE Studios The Call held up well at the box office at #9. The movie took in $3.5 million to bring its total take to $45.5 million.

- Variety has an article about The Call and how it fits in with WWE's new strategy for their films division. WWE Studios President Michael Luisi discussed the success of the film in the article.

"'The Call' has exceed our most optimistic forecasts," Luisi said. "It's a crowd pleaser and it tends to play consistently well with the core WWE fans but it's going beyond the core fans. That's great fo the WWE Studios brand."
