Although WWE comes to the UK only twice a year, fans are still guaranteed to have an experience of a life time. The roster gave fans a show that they will never forget, despite having no world champion present. On Thursday, 18th of April 2013 in Glasgow's Breahead arena, I was fortunate enough to be sitting in the very front row, witnessing one of the best WWE house shows, to ever take place in Scotland. Here's what went down and what I saw, from a front row seat:
A great way to open the show as the two superstars representing the heel rock bad "3MB", Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal, were challenged to play the babyface character as Drew McIntyre once again made a return to his home land of Scotland. Not to mention how stunning Rosa Mendes looked walking around the outside of the ring. Santino and McIntyre got the win over Primo and Epico with a double "Cobra" to the delight of the fans. After the match, The Shield ran in and assaulted the winning team, later giving the triple powerbomb to the home town boy Drew McIntyre.
Fandango defeated Ted DiBiase
NXT Diva Summer Rea escorted the enthusiastic dancer to the ring as Fandango began his normal shtick to try and get the audience to pronounce his name correctly. Mid-name, DiBiase cut him off. Fandango won with a neckbreaker, followed by going on the microphone and saying his own name properly. FannnnnnDannnnnnGoooooo!
Natalya defeated Alicia Fox
Hornswoggle was the special guest ring announcer for this highly entertaining Divas matchup. Some of Alicia's hair was yanked off by Natty which she didn't look too happy about. Natalya won with the Sharpshooter. After the match, Natalya made her way around the ringside arena, slapping the hands of the fans. When she got round to my seat, we hugged for a good five seconds which was a very nice experience! Thanks Natty…
Although it took Khali a while to get to the ring, the world's strongest man made quick work of the Punjabi Playboy and gave him a good old fashioned "World's Strongest Slam" for the win.
A great match to end the first half of the show. The Apex Predator received a fantastic reception from the Glasgow crowd which he seemed to enjoy. The action spilled out to the floor as Big Show's head cracked the ring post and almost landed on my lap. It would have been something to remember if he did end up over the barricade. After a few false finishes, Show went for the knockout punch, in which Randy ducked and delivered a big RKO for the three count.
Wade Barrett defeated Justin Gabriel to retain the Intercontinental Championship
Before the match began, Barrett cut a great "England" promo which angered the Scottish audience. This was actually a superb match and it looked like they still have some chemistry in the ring together after teaming together in "Nexus" a few years back. Barrett knocked Gabriel out with the "Bullhammer" elbow. Impressive match to say the least.
