Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva's long-standing rivalry almost came to a head this weekend at the Olympia Fitness and Performance Expo in Las Vegas.
Responding to numerous taunts launched his way by Sonnen over the past year, Silva -- accompanied by a friend with a camera -- charged through the crowd at the expo to confront Sonnen. The altercation was brief, which is in the video above at the 0:28 mark, with the two fighters being separated before they could come to blows. Silva edited the video to include a direct message to Sonnen in which he promises him all manner of violence in repayment for Sonnen's frequent verbal jabs.
Though Sonnen and Silva have courted a rivalry for several years at this point, a fight between the two has never come to fruition.
Sonnen is currently scheduled to face Rashad Evans in a light heavyweight contest this coming November at UFC 167. Sonnen's last victory came via submission over Silva's friend Mauricio "Shogun" Rua this past August. Silva hasn't appeared in the cage since earning at knockout over Brian Stann last March and currently has no fight lined up for the immediate future.
