- This Friday would have been the late "Macho Man" Randy Savage's 61st birthday. "Hall of Very Good" has an interview with Lanny Poffo discussing his brother and their love of baseball. Poffo also discussed Savage leaving the baseball minor leagues for pro wrestling and said that even though Savage was a great hitter, his shoulder injuries cut his career short.
"He [Savage] made it through several cuts in Spring Training but was unconditionally released before the season started," Poffo said. "He called it quits. He joined my Dad and me in Toledo, Ohio where we were working in Michigan, Ohio and Ontario. Ten years of hard work later, 'The Macho Man' made his WWF debut."
