- MMAJunkie reported earlier this week that Shane Del Rosario has suffered a rib injury that would force him out of a proposed bout against Guto Inocente at UFC 168. It turns out that UFC officials will be saved the work of having to find a replacement for Inocente, as he is also injured and unable to compete. The bout has been pulled from the lineup -- which features high-profile rematches between Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva, as well as Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate -- where it was slated as a preliminary bout. UFC 168 will take place on December 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Following an unfortunate trend, Thiago Silva has pulled out of his bout with Ovince St. Preux within 24 hours of the fight being announced. The light heavyweights were scheduled to meet in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 35, which will take place on January 15 at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia. The card will be headlined by middleweights Luke Rockhold and Costa Philippou. The reason for Silva being unable to compete is currently undisclosed.
- The UFC has successfully courted the services of undefeated welterweight Frank Trevino (11-0), whose management announced today that the 31-year-old has signed a four-fight deal with the promotion. Trevino has spent the entirety of his career fighting at 170-pounds, but will debut in the UFC as a lightweight. Though he's faced mostly unknown competition since his debut in 2008, Trevino has only seen three of his eleven fights make it the distance; his other eight wins came via submission or KO/TKO.
Having been born and raised in Mexico, Trevino is looking to make his promotional debut at the UFC's first show in the country, which is rumored to be happening in April. Trevino last appeared in action at Legacy Fighting Championship earlier this month, where he earned a unanimous decision over Lester Batres.
