Stephanie And Dr. Maroon Comment On WWE Medical, Details On How WWE Does Drug Testing

- The CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh has a new article up looking at Dr. Joseph Maroon, who heads up WWE's medical team. Maroon talked about when WWE came to him in 2006 to begin their partnership:

"They came to me and said look, 'We are interested in doing everything we can to protect our talent. It's the lifeblood of our industry. We want to do the very best that we can and the best medicine that we can to protect them.,'"

Stephanie also commented about the extensive medical program that Maroon heads up:

"We do cardiovascular screening. We do ImPACT testing. We do blood work. There is a drug testing component. It's really with the idea of having our athletes and our superstars have the best health possible."

The article notes that WWE's drug testing is done by independent third party Aegis. Drug testing is conducted randomly four times each year for every Superstar. If they are found to have a banned or prohibited substance in their body, they are tested seven times a year, also randomly.
