SmackDown Review: Why Bray Wyatt Will Not Defeat John Cena At WrestleMania 30

This episode of SmackDown was filled will storyline development heading into WrestleMania 30 next Sunday. From Triple H encouraging a meaner side of Batista, to the Shield pulling double duty, the show did a good job of further anticipation for the pay per view. The main event pitted Bray Wyatt against one of John Cena's former WrestleMania opponents, Big Show. Wyatt was looking to continue his psychological advantage by defeating Big Show, despite an obvious size disadvantage.

Which brings us to the question: Will Bray Wyatt defeat John Cena at WrestleMania 30? Although he should, that answer is - NO.

John Cena is coining this match as building his legacy. Now, the tagline is not bad, because Cena is at the point in his career that he does not need a world title to be as over as a world champion. Moreover, he is at a point of his career where he needs to start putting rising stars over to help ascend them to the main event. This is why a John Cena vs. Roman Reigns feud should happen down the line in some fashion.

So why won't Bray Wyatt beat John Cena at WrestleMania 30? Simple; WWE wants that "feel-good" WrestleMania moment for John Cena, something that he is oh so familiar with. Over the past couple of months, Bray Wyatt has got the best of Cena, attacking him at the previous two pay per views, Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. Sadly, for WrestleMania, this is as good as it gets for Wyatt. Gaining such and advantage over Cena leading to the match is making Cena look like an underdog. Although it makes Wyatt look like a worthy contender for Cena, it does not give the go-ahead for Wyatt to defeat Cena at WrestleMania.

If this was Extreme Rules, the deck would have dealt a much better hand for Bray Wyatt. Unfortunately, for Wyatt, John Cena will have the winning hand. Even the match on SmackDown between Wyatt and Show, with a proper build, would have been better off for WrestleMania, because Wyatt would have certainly went over and continued his ascension in the ranks. BUT - what Cena wants, Cena gets.
