Chris Weidman's Next Fight Set, Update On If Vitor Belfort Was Granted License

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will defend his title this December against Vitor Belfort at UFC 181. Officials made the fight announcement following Belfort's appearance in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Belfort was removed from a previous planned encounter with Weidman due to a failed drug test. "The Phenom" had elevated levels of testosterone in his system, and has since worked his way off the use of TRT. Both the UFC and NAC have banned exemptions for TRT, forcing Belfort to appear before them to state his case.

The board approved Belfort on a conditional basis for a fight license, as he will be tested often before stepping inside the Octagon on December 6 to challenge Weidman for the title. Belfort has previously lost to Anderson Silva and Jon Jones in UFC championship matches.

Weidman is coming off a decision win over Lyoto Machida which came after two 2013 victories vs. Silva. Belfort has stopped Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson.
