Huge UFC Fight Is Changed Due To Injury, Chael Sonnen Suspended

- Daniel Cormier will get his chance at knocking Jon Jones off the light heavyweight podium after all. Officials announced on Wednesday that Cormier will replace Alexander Gustafsson and face Jones at UFC 178 in the main event.

Gustafsson suffered a knee injury in training, forcing him out of a rematch with "Bones." Last year, Jones earned a decision over Gustafsson. Both fighters picked up wins recently, with Jones defeating Glover Teixeira and Gustafsson topping Jimi Manuwa.

Cormier, who called for a championship match with Jones after defeating Dan Henderson, is a former U.S. Olympic wrestler and ex-Oklahoma State University standout. You can hear him make his plea to face Jones in the video above.

- Former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen has been suspended for two years following a move made by the Nevada Athletic Commission. Sonnen appeared before the board on Wednesday and was given his punishment for failing two pre-fight drug tests.

Sonnen announced his retirement following the second failed test. They both came after banned substances were found to be in his system. He will not face any kind of monetary fine, just the costs and analysis of the tests he took.

The commissioner of the NAC, Anthony Marnell, pushed for a lifetime ban from fighting. That decision was not supported by members of the committee, according to a report by MMAjunkie.com.
