WWE SmackDown Results: Dean Ambrose Vs. Randy Orton, Ziggler Vs. Rollins, SummerSlam Stip, More

Welcome to WrestlingINC.com's live coverage and results for SmackDown. Tonight's show was taped in Laredo, Texas, former capital of the short-lived country known as The Republic of the Rio Grande.

Please spread word of our viewing party and complete results via Facebook and Twitter. If you communicate via the ancient style of writing known as cuneiform, fashion a crude stone tablet from whatever you can scare up down at the old abandoned quarry and carve out the words "Follow WrestlingINC.com's coverage of SmackDown every Friday night!" Then take it to your local museum and tell them you found it buried in your back yard. Better stick to the Neo-Assyrian cuneiform, though, because you're really showing your age when you use that old-school Hittite stuff.

On this date in wrestling history in 1998, Bam Bam Bigelow, Sabu and Taz fought for 30 minutes to a draw at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia. That was back when almost every match had a time limit as opposed to being "set for one fall" which is what they'll do for most of the matches scheduled for this evening's big show. Not that there's anything wrong with that but hey, times change.

The show opens with "Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose doing a power walk down the ramp and a recap of the craziness from Monday Night when Amrose cost Rollins his "Beat the Clock" win. He reads a lost of funny stipulations for his match against Rollins at SummerSlam including a "Loser Washes Triple H's Car Match" which gets a good belly-laugh from the crowd. The Rollins comes out and tells him to cut the sheep dip. After some verbal fisticuffs and copious use of the figure "$9.99," Ambrose announces that their SummerSlam match will be a lumberjack match. Rollins isn't intimidated and he tells Ambrose he's the future of this company, "this company" being WWE. Rollins also breaks the news that The Authority has booked Orton to go up against Ambrose in tonight's main event and just for a refresher, the guys in the truck roll some footage of RKO whooping up on Roman Reigns. Cole and JBL put Orton over and hype SummerSlam, we hear some coming attractions and it's time for the first break.

Big Show and Mark Henry vs. RybAxel

Back from the land of commercials, RybAxel is in the squared circle and Mark Henry comes out to a warm reception followed by Big Show. After the bell, Axel tries to get cute but running circles around Henry and then slipping out. Henry and Show talk strategy briefly which probably only consists of the words, "squash that little dude." Axel retreats and we get a nice standoff between Henry and Ryback. Henry gets some good offense in on Ryback and almost gets a slam by Axel interferes and momentum shifts to RybAxel. Henry eventually gets the tag and cleans house. Henry hits a World's Strongest Slam on Ryback as Show chokeslams Axel and gets the pin.

Result: Big Show and Mark Henry defeat RybAxel via pinfall.

Backstage, Ziggler is cracking some jokes about Seth Rollins with Adam Rose and some ladies when Rollins arrives and breaks it up. He talks some smack to Ziggler and then advises Ziggy that they'll meet in the ring later tonight. Book it.

SummerSlam promos roll, followed by commercials.

After the break, JBL and Cole shill the holy bejeezus out of the WWE Network. Sin Cara is in the ring and Sandow comes out dressed like he's with the Border Patrol. His promo is something like a "Real Americans" from earlier this year. After drawing a mess of heat, the bell rings.

Sin Cara vs. Damien Sandow

Sandow gets busy dominating Sin Cara, reminding people that he's actually pretty skilled in the ring. Sin Cara eventually gets things moving with some aerial work but he doesn't stay on top for long. After a flurry of offense from Sandow, Sin Cara hits a swanton of the top rope and gets the three-count.

Result: Sin Cara defeats Damien Sandow via pinfall.

Coming attractions and SummerSlam ads follow, then a break.

Following some paid advertisements, we get a nice, lengthy video retrospective of the Lesnar/Cena rivalry. Ziggler emerges for his match and we have commercial sign.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins

Returning from the world of coming attractions and public service announcements, Rollins greets the crowd with disdain and charges forward to meet Ziggler. After the bell, the guys lock up. Rollins takes it to Ziggler quickly and it's quite the drubbing. Rollins stays on offense for several minutes and Ziggler gives nothing back until he breaks a sleeper hold and lands a few blows. Rollins earns a breather when he tosses Ziggy outside and the next thing we see is a Subway ad.

Back to the match in progress, Ziggler lands punch after punch on Rollins but Seth stays in the game. Ziggler has the crowd on his side and he gets Rollins on the mat for one near fall, and then another, and then one more. Rollins pushes on and gets back on his feet to rejoin the battle but Ziggler almost wins again with a rollup. They tussle some more and Ziggler garners another two-count. Rollins turns the tables and puts Ziggler down but he can't seal the deal either. Both guys pick up the pace and Ziggler hits Rollins off the ropes with a "Fameasser" and gets another near fall but Seth still manages to kick out. Back on his feet, Rollins chucks Ziggler into a post, Dolph folds like a deck chair and rolls on to the floor. Rollins heads outside and wipes up the joint with Ziggler before tossing him back into the ring. He crushes Ziggler with a curb stomp and covers him for the win.

Result: Seth Rollins defeats Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.

Backstage, Orton tells Renee he'll totally, absolutely, positively beat Ambrose later tonight.

Paige vs. Natalya

Following the break, Paige and Natalya throw down for a match. Paige gets all kinds of crazy on Natalya, they brawl outside and Paige absolutely dominates her competition. Natalya makes it back in before she's counted out but Paige gets her in a submission hold and Natty taps to end this one.

Result: Paige defeats Natalya via submission.

Paige skips off and we're assured that the night will end with Ambrose taking on Orton. Rusev and Lana head out to the ring area and we go to commercial.

Rusev vs. Big E

WWE pays a few bills and then Lana and Rusev parage out to the ring. Big E is already in his own corner. Guess he doesn't get an on-air intro these days. A short match ensues in which Big E musters a smidgen of moves to counter a mammoth torrent of blows by Rusev. The hard-hitting feud they could've had months ago is a distant memory as Rusev gets a virtual squash after forcing Big E to submit in the clutch.

Result: Rusev beats Big E via submission

The guys in the truck roll a recap of Jericho's feud with the Wyatts and Jericho follows with a promo in which he guarantees victory at SummerSlam.

More recaps will follow after some words from the sponsors?

Commercials don't end when the show resumes, folks! Cole and JBL announce that the UK gets the WWE Network on October 1 and SummerSlam is also coming shortly for the incredible value of just $9.99. Think that's old news? The Brie/Steph recap is brought to us by WWE Magazine and the WWE Magazine app, which seems kinda weird given that the 'E seems to have put that endeavor out to pasture.

After the recap, we get a glimpse of AMbrose heading out to the ring and a promotional package for WrestleMania XXX airing on network television.

Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton

Orton takes his time walking out to the ring and after a few verses and choruses of his entrance music, he's finally ready to get busy with Ambrose. Ambrose comes out swinging and backs Orton into a corner, landing a tempest of jabs before Orton steps out to gather his wits. Back in the ring, Orton again falls victim to Ambrose who works over The Viper on the mat. Ambrose gets a two-count and then gets Orton into what inside types refer to as a "rest hold". Randy flips Ambrose and regains momentum, smashing Dean into a corner as the ref counts to four. Ambrose gets back into the fight quickly, though, dumping Orton out of the ring and then diving on to him as WWE takes a short breather for some commercials.

Orton gets the upper hand after the break and works over Ambrose with that time-tested combo of "stomp-grapple-stomp." Ambrose's resistance seems lacking until he stops Orton cold with a face-first DDT. Once both guys reach a vertical base again, Ambrose pummels Orton with strikes all around the ring. He gets Orton out on the floor again but this time Orton anticipates the dive and plasters Ambrose. Ambrose falls outside and Orton bounces him all over the ringside area before hoisting him on to the apron for a DDT. Ambrose counters, tosses Orton on to the floor and connects with a suicide dive. They make it back into the ring and Ambrose hits "Dirty Deeds" but Rollins interferes and ends what had been a rather entertaining bout. Ambrose and Rollins brawl outside and then back into the ring. Ambrose gets Rollins into a "ground and pound" situation until Orton breaks it up and both foes take apart Ambrose in grand fashion. Rollins grabs a drink from a fan and pours it on Ambrose who is laid out in the middle of the ring. After some gloating, Rollins hits the curb stomp on Dean and the show fades to black.

Result: Dean Ambrose defeats Randy Orton via DQ after Seth Rollins interferes.
