Bischoff said that during a meeting with Hulk Hogan in early 1996, he pitched the heel turn and New World Order angle to Hogan, hoping to salvage his investment which had gone awry.

Hogan's reaction wasn't what Bischoff expected, as Hogan dismissed the question by saying, "Brother, I gotta pick the kids up from school, thanks for stopping by. You'll never know my character until you've walked a mile in my yellow boots." Bischoff said it was the most politely he'd ever been kicked out of a building in his life.

Hogan only had a few television dates remaining on his deal, and was off filming the movie Santa With Muscles. Bischoff was hoping to extend the deal with Hogan, and things weren't going the way he'd hoped.

As the angle unfolded Hogan asked Bischoff to fly to Los Angeles, where the deal was hatched that made Hulk Hogan the third member of the New World Order.
