Retro Wednesday: Survivor Series "Grand Finale"

Since 1987, Survivor Series has been a part of the PPV series presented by the WWE. Originally airing on Thanksgiving Day for a number of years, the event focused on tag team wrestling, featuring 8- to 10 man teams.

In 1990, the PPV had a very interesting concept. The winners, or "Survivors, " of the respective matches formed another team at the end of the event, which was coined the "Grand Finale".

The babyfaces who won their respective matches were Hulk Hogan, the Ultimate Warrior, and Tito Santana. For the heels, Ted DiBiase, Rick Martel, Warlord, and the Power & Glory team of Hercules and Paul Roma outlasted their competition to be in the main event.

The babyfaces won the match, leaving a positive note to one of the most memorable Survivor Series PPVs in WWE history. Although WWE has yet to duplicate that concept, at least we got to see it 24 years ago.

Classic match.
