** SPOILERS ** News From Lucha Underground Tapings This Past Saturday

I was at the Lucha Underground tapings on Saturday. I have enjoyed watching Lucha Underground on El Rey but was disappointed this weekend when I went to their TV taping at the Temple in Boyle Heights. They hot-shotted the biggest stip in lucha libre with an impromptu mask vs mask match between two mid carders! Oh, and it was an intergender match. So, a gimmick match... with another gimmick added to it! It was totally random and all of us watching were confused by why they'd script something like this for two babyfaces and blow a great stipulation this way.
They also started their trios tournament. Some of the best lucha you'll find in AAA, CMLL or elsewhere is in the 3 on 3 matches known as trios contests. I was shocked by the writing again? as were the people sitting next to me (we were in the corner bleachers if you watch the shows in April). Anyway, the writing of this tournament inexplicably buried ALL OF THE LUCHADORES in the first round of the tournament. Pentagon Jr. was written to compete with Super Fly and Sexy Star (heel and 2 babyfaces even with a plausible angle is convoluted) and Pentagon who is showing promise, failed along with his partners to advance losing to ex-WWE wrestler Big Ryck and his posse.
They also did another trios match where 3 of the best luchadores in Mexico in Fenix, Drago and Aerostar lost to lower level wrestlers Son of Havoc, Angelico and female wrestler Ivellise. That means the finals for the Lucha Underground trios title will feature no real luchadores.
It's a shame the writing team is messing up something so good. I love Lucha Underground and it's been a good TV show but what I saw at the Temple this weekend wasn't good.
