NJPW On AXS Results (2/20): Shinsuke Namakura Vs. Kota Ibushi, Davey Boy Smith Jr In Action

Shinsuke Nakamura welcomes us to the program. Tonight's show will focus on the 2013 G1 Climax Tournament.

Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Karl Anderson

Anderson powers Tenzan into the ropes and plays to the crowd, but comes up empty on a couple of shoulder block attempts. Anderson uses Tenzan's own Mongolian chops and hits a Swivel Gun Stun, but Tenzan kicks out.

Anderson goes for another Gun Stun, but Tenzan slams Anderson and locks on the Anaconda Vice. Anderson battles his way up, but Tenzan slams Anderson with an Anaconda Buster. Anderson makes it to the ropes and misses another Gun Stun. Another Anaconda Buster is countered with a Gun Stun for the win.

Winner: Karl Anderson via pinfall (Gun Stun)

A big win in the 2013 G1 Climax for the Bullet Club.

Davey Boy Smith Jr (w/ Taka Michinoku) vs. Satoshi Kojima

Smith goes right to a double wristlock into a straight armlock, then a hammerlock. Kojima can't shoulder block Smith, but Smith knocks Kojima down and out with one of his own.

Kojima clotheslines Smith outside of the ring, and whips him into the guard rail. He follows up with an apron DDT that renders Smith helpless. Back inside the ring, Taka grabs Kojima's foot that allows Smith to turn the tides with a big body slam.

Kojima fights back with a ton of chops and a flying elbow drop, but Smith kicks out at two. Back on the feet they trade elbows, but Kojima gets the best of it and drops Smith.

Smith regains control and locks on a Sharpshooter, but Kojima inches his way to the ropes for the break. Kojima hits a Koji Cutter to reverse a Bulldog Bomb and then gets a two off of a brainbuster.

Smith tries to battle back, and connects with a huge Tiger suplex that somehow Kojima kicks out of. Kojima fires back with a huge lariat, but Smith hasn't had enough and kicks out at 2.9.

A double lariat stuns both, but Koji is better off. Smith changes that with a sick looking knee and a Bulldog Bomb for the pinfall.

Winner: Davey Boy Smith Jr via pinfall (Bulldog Bomb)

- Shinsuke Nakamura appears to talk about Ishii, Shibata and Ibushi.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kota Ibushi

After a long feeling out period, Ibushi dropkicks Nakamura to the outside. Ibushi goes up, but Nakamura rushes in and kicks Ibushi to the floor to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Outside the ring Ibushi eats a bunch of knees before being whipped hard into the guard rail. Ibushi is placed on the apron and hit with several knees that send him to the floor as we go to the commercial.

We come back and Nakamura is still in control as he drops a big knee across Ibushi's chest. Ibushi tries to come back with slaps, but Nakamura just totally destroys him with knees in the corner.

Ibushi finally gets some offense with a Pele kick, and follows up with a big time springboard dropkick that doesn't get the pin. A high kick and a standing star press doesn't get him much further. Eventually Ibushi just huracanranas Nakamura outside and scores with the Cancun Tornado. Breathtaking.

Ibushi is knocked off the top rope and kneed by Nakamura, but kicks out at two. Nakamura is getting frustrated and goes right back to throwing knees at Ibushi's head. Nakamura's leg is caught on a kick attempt, and Ibushi goes right after his knee.

Ibushi's advantage doesn't last long as Nakamura connects with a lungblower and locks on an arm-trapped sleeper hold. Ibushi looks like he's in trouble, but makes it to the ropes. Nakamura isn't fazed, and goes right back to the hold before throwing him with a sleeper suplex.

A major scramble leads to an Ibushi dragon suplex and standing stardust press that can't finish Nakamura off. He follows up with a springboard Frankensteiner, but it can't finish his opponent off as we go to a commercial.

Back from the break Ibushi slugs Nakamura with a big kick and a beautiful Golden Star Bomb, which is a seated Last Ride. Somehow Nakamura kicks out, and gets his knees up on the Stardust Press. Nakamura clocks Ibushi with the Boma Ye out of nowhere, but both men are down.

Ibushi gets a 2.9 on a head kick, but Red Shoes (the ref) looked like he had a bad cadence. Nakamura is put on the top rope, but comes off with a second rope dropkick, and a Boma Ye but Ibushi kicks out! Nakamura hits another for the win. Awesome match.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall (Boma Ye)
