Samoa Joe Talks About CM Punk Signing With UFC

Brand new free agent Samoa Joe appeared on WrestleTalk TV this week to talk a variety of subjects, including the topic of his friend and former rival CM Punk signing with the UFC, and leaving WWE. He said that their relationship had broadened due to being in wrestling.

"For a lot of fans it's hard for to believe that two wrestlers wouldn't talk about wrestling 24/7," Joe said. "I think it's the thing we never talk about."

Joe said that initially got worried when he heard that CM Punk had joined the UFC, because it's his friend and that's how he works. That feeling didn't last long, however.

"A minute after I thought that, I realized who my friend is and how his thought process is and how his mindset is," said Joe. "I link that up with fighters that I've known, and they have that mindset. Steel sharpens steel and he's hanging out in a factory. He's in a good camp, and he'll do the work. I've seen him in scraps."

Joe was asked if he'd spoken to Punk since leaving WWE or signing with the UFC, speculation in which he confirmed.

"Most of the times it's just wacky banter," Joe said. "I have a pretty good network of coaches that I've met over the years, and of course I made those available to him. He's done his own research. Outside of that it's mostly ridiculous texts. Me making walkout theme suggestions. I said Pat Benetar.
