WWE Legend Goes Off On Roddy Piper Over His Comments On Podcast

Earlier this week, Roddy Piper was on The Adam Carolla Show to plug his anti-bullying charity work. He covered all sorts of topics, bth wrestling-related and otherwise. Early on, they were talking about his skill at playing the bagpipes, including Piper claiming that he once came in fifth place in some sort of competition to determine the best bagpiper in the world. Then, at the 1:36:30 mark of the podcast, Carolla made a joke about the Honky Tonk Man finishing ahead of Piper in the competition.

Piper used this as an opportunity to air a grievance.

"Of all the wrestlers, he's an asshole," Piper said. "Honky Tonk?he can't sing, he can't play the guitar, and he's?jealous. And on top of that, allegedly, he tried to buy my name, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper, Wayne Ferris did, allegedly. I saw it, and I don't know that it's the same Wayne Ferris, but I would find it difficult to believe there's another Wayne Ferris that dresses like Elvis Presley to wrestle. Really?"

That led to a tangent about about Elvis Presley being a wrestling fan in Memphis who dated female wrestler Penny Banner (which is true), and a vague story what sounded like he was saying Sputnik Monroe once trashed Elvis's house. Thy moved on from the topic and didn't go back to it.

Last last night/early this morning, Honky Tonk Man responded on Twitter by slamming Piper:

Piper responded by asking Honky Tonk Man to appear on his podcast and promising to be respectful

This is not the first time in recent memory that Piper is gotten attention and/or heat for a story he told in an interview. Last Summer, when the trailer for his "Timeline: History of WWE – 1984" shoot interview was released, it got a lot of attention for what appeared to be him vaguely accusing Pat Patterson of sexually harassing him when he was about 21 years old. Piper later attempted to clarify his comments on his podcast.
