This has been noted before, but never fully explained – players will need to actually manage their reversals this time around, as each playable character will have a set "stock" of reversals that regenerate throughout a match. Going deeper, there is now something called a "major reversal", a smaller indicator for bigger moves, that costs two stock to execute and is much more difficult to time out, but results in a boost to your character's momentum.

WWE 2K16 is also implementing "Working Holds" (or rest holds) as a way to slow down the pace, and give characters a chance to restore some stamina whole taking it away from the opponent. The team has also redesigned the way submission holds work. Note that there is now a bigger difference between the two types of maneuvers.

The end result – hopefully – is a much more skill-based and strategic experience that is less reliant on the traditional "button mashing" that has become commonplace in wrestling video games over the years.
