Steve Austin On If Confederate Flag Controversy Should Hurt Fabulous Freedbirds Chances In WWE HOF

On a recent episode of WOOOOO! Nation with Ric Flair, "the Nature Boy" sat down with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. In this wide ranging interview, many topics were discussed, including AJ Styles, Triple H vs. Sting at WrestleMania 31, and Pat Patterson's influence over the Rock's professional wrestling career. Also, during the podcast, Austin was asked whether he thought the recent Confederate flag controversy would hurt the chances of the Fabulous Freebirds being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

"Oh, no, piss on the rebel flag," Austin said. "That ain't going to hurt their chances of getting into the Hall of Fame."

Austin said that he understands everybody's sensitivity towards the Confederate flag issue, but "just because that was part of their gimmick back in the day, it should not impede their progress as far as being in the Hall of Fame."

According to Austin, WWE should simply remove any Confederate flag imagery in the videos of the Fabulous Freebirds.

"You ain't got to put that thing in the video footage," Austin noted. "I think you ixnay [the imagery] and you're good to go."
