Hulk Hogan On If John Cena Would Make A Good Heel, When He Knew His NWO Heel Turn Was Working

As noted, Hulk Hogan was recently interviewed by Radio Yorkshire to promote his upcoming Sheffield Arena show this Saturday. During the interview, Hogan talked about his heel turn at WCW Bash at the Beach 1996. Also, Hogan discussed the possibility of John Cena turning heel.

On the subject of his own heel turn, Hogan admitted that he did not know whether it would have worked as well as it did until he and his nWo stablemates were pelted with garbage during their interview with 'Mean' Gene Okerlund following the so-called 'Hostile Takeover Match'.

"Well, I was thinking I knew I was going to piss everybody off. I knew it," Hogan recalled. "I didn't know if it was going to work as good [as it did]. I knew I was going to get heat for flipping everybody off, but when [the crowd] started throwing stuff into the ring, when Kevin [Nash] and Scott [Hall] and I were standing there with 'Mean' Gene, when they started throwing bottles and paper and everything into the ring, I knew it worked then."

Hogan claimed that Cena could make for a good heel and that the 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion should not reject the idea without some serious consideration.

"Yeah, I mean, God, I hate to keep saying it, 'never say never', but with Vince McMahon's machine and the WWE and the writers and John [Cena]'s talent, his talent alone, if he were to turn heel and [WWE] let him go, let John go and pull that edge out of John, ooh boy, he'd be a good heel!"

In addition to these topics, Hogan discussed Kevin Owens, facing the Rock at WrestleMania 18, and much more. Click here to check out the entire interview.
