Hiroshi Tanahashi Talks Almost Going To WWE, Who Will Fill The Void Left By Nakamura, More

NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared on a Japanese podcast this week to talk about his career and several other topics. Chris Charlton translated some of the highlights of the podcast, which you can check out below.

- Tanahashi says that J Sports wanted to get him signed by WWE as a part of their broadcast deal. As it turns out, Kenzo Suzuki got signed instead.

- He says that Shinsuke Nakamura moving to WWE is a big loss New Japan, and that many people come to their live events just to see Nakamura there. Tanahashi says that the people that like him like other NJPW talents but Nakamura's absence isn't his kind of void to fill.

- Tanahashi puts over Ryusuke Taguchi, and says he should get more serious and double down now that Nakamura is gone.

- He thinks that the juniors division can help fill a gap left by many of the departures. Kamaitachi, Dragon Lee, Desperado & Bushi were all named.

- He says that Nakamura appealed to different generations, and his nods to Inoki helped appeal to the older generation.
