UFC Fight Night 82 Results: Big Upset, Best Striking Display Ever?, Johny Hendricks, Wonderboy

The event formerly known as UFC 196 is in the books, and while we'll know it forever as UFC Fight Night 82, it's going to be more synonymous with the coming out party of Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson.

Thompson, the #8-ranked welterweight upset former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks in a one-sided, dominant beat down, in what may have very well been among the greatest striking displays of all time. Thompson used his unparalleled standup game to stifle any attacks Hendricks put forth, including a takedown attempt.

Thompson may have very well earned himself a championship fight, as he'll likely jump into the top-5 if not the #1 spot in the welterweight rankings. Carlos Condit may be retired, Matt Brown and Demian Maia have a date in May, Dong Hyun Kim hasn't defeated a top-10 fighter, Rory MacDonald is coming off of a title loss, and Tyron Woodley hasn't fought in over a year.

Elsewhere on the show, Mickey Gall made short work of Mike Jackson to secure a fight against CM Punk. Also, Roy Nelson defeated Jared Rosholt in an all-time stinker of a fight, Ovince St-Preux overcame an early foot injury to likely bounce Feijao from the top 15, and Joseph Benavidez earned a victory over former Bellator Champion Zach Makovsky.
