UFC On Fox 19 Results: Rashad Evans Gets Slept, Title Challenger Moves Up, Nurmagomedov Returns

UFC on Fox 19 lost a lot over the last two weeks. Tony Ferguson was set to take on the returning Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event, but was injured and removed from the card two weeks prior. Rashad Evans was originally scheduled to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, but Rua was pulled in favor of a UFC 198 fight. Then the week of the event Lyoto Machida was flagged for a USADA violation and his fight with Dan Henderson was called off.

The main event of the evening saw Glover Teixeira sleep Rashad Evans in the first round on his way to his third straight win. Evans now hasn't won since 2013, and has no wins over current UFC light heavyweights. After the bout Teixeira called out light heavyweight contender Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.

By all means, the people's main event was the rematch between Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres. The two met in 2013, with Torres earning a unanimous decision victory. Torres started strong, but Namajunas started to find her rhythm as the fight wore on. The third round went back and forth, with Torres attacking Rose's leg, and Namajunas scoring a big takedown.

Khabib Nurmagomedov did stay on the card despite Ferguson withdrawing, and defeated late notice replacement Darrell Horcher. Nurmagomedov hadn't fought in two years, and played his usual game, landing a massive double leg before pounding Horcher out viciously.

The event was full of contenders and former title challengers. Flyweight title challenger John Dodson returned to 135 pounds with a vengeance en route to a quick destruction of Manny Gamburyan. Bethe Correia returned for the first time since Ronda Rousey made her kiss a Straight Outta Compton logo on the Octagon floor, but lost a close decision and a good fight to Raquel Pennington. Michael Chiesa got his fifth rear naked choke win in the UFC, this one over Beneil Dariush.
