Vince Russo On Ryback's Contract Negotiations, Ryback's Actions At WWE Payback, More

Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback made waves and headlines this week when he was sent home following a contract dispute.

Ryback turned heads on Sunday night's WWE Payback pay-per view, when he both mocked CM Punk in his hometown, and wore a customized weight belt that said 'Pre-Show Stopper.' On this Monday's episode of the Wrestling Inc. Podcast, former WWE, WCW and TNA writer Vince Russo said that the actions on Sunday caught him off guard, but the follow up on Monday didn't.

"When (I saw) that message he wrote on his belt or whatever the case may be, I found that rather shocking," said Russo. "Now for him to do something like this, it comes as no surprise to me whatsoever."

Russo gave Ryback credit for being willing to speak his mind and act out in the WWE, something we don't often see. Russo said that these things helped Ryback's personality shine through.

"All of those little things, the guy has a personality. For him to do all those things, one, it takes balls, two, you have to be creative. I know how things work at the WWE. All he had to do was rub one person the wrong way, and that's it for your career. I would think that it's a good move for him," said Russo.

Ryback has been silent since his controversial blog post where he spoke out about wrestler pay. As of now it's unknown if he and the WWE have resumed negotiations on his contract that expires later this year.
