The UFC has signed former Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks on the first day he was legally able, reports MMA Junkie.

Brooks will face longtime UFC lightweight Ross Pearson in just a few weeks at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale during International Fight Week. Pearson was expected to face James Krause, who was forced to withdraw from the fight.

Brooks was stripped of the Bellator Lightweight Championship and released from the company 30 days ago. Michael Chandler and Patricky Friere will compete for the vacant title next Friday at Bellator Dynamite 2.
